Blinds in the interior - a new image in a matter of minutes

Home/Articles/Blinds for plastic windows - review of the best new products (88 photos)

More recently, the use of blinds on plastic windows in apartments and houses has become relevant.

Due to the convenient fastening method, they limit the penetration of the sun's rays, and there is no problem with opening the window.

Types of blinds

Blinds have the following varieties!

Horizontal arrangement. They have a horizontal arrangement and are fastened with lamellas. Rotation is carried out around its axis.

If you open them, they will rise up. And this can be done easily using a chain.

Vertical arrangement. They work the same way as horizontal ones, only they are assembled either to the left or right side, or from the center to the edges.

Roller blinds. This type covers the entire window, they look like a single strip, and it rolls up.

Pleated blinds have a unique texture. They are processed using embossing and a composition that gives them strength. The windows are attached and assembled like an accordion. They can be positioned both horizontally and vertically.

Lamels can be made from the following raw materials:

  • made of plastic;
  • made of metal;
  • from fabric;
  • made of wood;
  • from bamboo.

Ink

Printing on a printer (ink)

Printing on a printer using ink - I had an experience when I was present in a room where roller blinds with photo printing had just been installed, which was applied exactly in this way. What can I say, the colors are rich, the image is of high quality, but since the product was large in size (width 2500 mm and height 2000 mm), it was installed in an ordinary apartment in the hall, where the area of the hall was at most 40 sq.m. The smell of ink was very persistent, to say the least. The owners of the new product were not particularly happy about this. But I think over time, the smell certainly disappeared, or decreased significantly (the product was literally straight from under the printer). But make a note for yourself anyway.

Another disadvantage of ink printing is that over time, the ink applied to the fabric begins to “come off”, this can be especially noticeable in places where the fabric is folded or just on roller blinds with a photo printed pattern. This happens because the curtain, when used, is rolled into a roll and the fabric seems to bend.

The advantage is that it’s cheap, and cheap and fast. If you decide to buy ready-made roller blinds with photo printing, then keep in mind that most likely they are made using printing on a printer. Somewhere on the Internet I came across an advertisement that was selling a home printer for printing images on the slats of vertical blinds. You can take a closer look, maybe with this article I will help you open your own business :-).

What blinds are suitable for a balcony?

With the arrival of warmer weather and persistent sunny days, windows are opened every day, and at this moment the question arises, is there a need for blinds on the balcony?

We can say with complete confidence that it is better to purchase blinds for plastic windows on the balcony.

When choosing this decorative element, you need to decide on the fastening with which the blinds are attached to the window. The range and variety of colors of blinds is so wide that it will suit any stylistic direction. Read here! Small balcony - charming and cozy design (88 photos)

But you should adhere to several rules:

  • Choose practical blinds, because the windows can be closed and opened and they should not be in the way;
  • Reliability and functionality of fastening;
  • It is better to choose fabric and plastic blinds, they are less noisy compared to wood and metal;

Horizontal with photo printing

Horizontal blinds with photo printing

Horizontal blinds with photo printing are quite a rare phenomenon; few people produce them in the regions; they are often ordered from partners in Moscow. When applying custom images, these products turn out to be quite expensive. And not all manufacturers have high-quality ones. If you need horizontal blinds with a pattern, I recommend buying ready-made ones in a store or some online store. Just be careful when choosing sizes. In this case, all responsibility will be on you.

In this case, the pattern is applied to plastic or aluminum slats, and again we will encounter image displacement, just like on vertical fabric blinds. Only in this case, the overlap area of the lamellas is much smaller, about 2-5 mm, compared to vertical 10-12 mm. In this case, the image will look much better, even if the image was not duplicated during application.

Photo printing on horizontal blinds can be applied to any of the blind systems; you can familiarize yourself with them using the link below.

Features of fastening different types of curtains

Each type of blind has its own installation nuances. Next, we’ll look at how to attach blinds to plastic windows.

Roller blinds for plastic windows are attached to the shutters. This will allow you to open and close the window without any problems.

Horizontal blinds are different in that they can be installed in places where others will not fit, for some reason.

Vertical blinds can be attached to any surface and the upper slope. Here you need to use the drilling method.

Roll with photo printing

Roller blinds with photo printing

Roller blinds with a pattern - as I said, the most common type of blinds with photo printing. This is due to the great adaptation of roller blinds to any window openings. There are many different roller blind systems that can be installed on the wall, on the ceiling, in the opening and separately on each fragment of a plastic window.

The print can be applied to any fabric used in the production of blinds. The only condition is that its color must be white, which will be the background by default. But what if the background of the picture is, for example, blue? It doesn’t matter, just the entire fabric is painted in the desired color. By the way, if you have difficulty choosing an image for a roller blind, there will be a section below where I will tell you step by step how to choose an image, where and why.

How to dismantle blinds?

Sooner or later there comes a time when it becomes necessary to remove the blinds. And then the question arises: how to do this? And you can do this as follows:

Vertical blinds can be removed by first opening the plates and putting them together. Remove the sinkers by removing the chain from them. Remove each lamella individually.

Horizontal blinds are removed like this. First, remove the curtain rod from the brackets. Lift the slats to reveal the lock. Move the lock towards you and to the right. Pull the curtains forward and down. And completely remove the structure.

Roller blinds can be removed by taking a screwdriver and bending the tab on the bracket. And remove the shaft towards you or downwards.

As you can see, there are different types of blinds, as well as types of their fastening. They will suit almost any stylistic direction, as they can be of any color and made of any materials.

And their installation is quite simple, which makes them practical and easy to use.

Types of photo printing

Types of photo printing on patterned roller blinds or vertical fabric blinds may differ in technology and equipment. There are two main ways to apply an image to the fabric of curtains or blinds. Using ink - printing on a printer or sublimation - transferring an image from paper to fabric. Sometimes it is also called thermal printing. Each of them has its own pros and cons when printing on blinds. I recommend considering both options, and then making a decision where and from whom to order roller blinds with a pattern.

Sublimation

Sublimation

Sublimation printing on blinds is the most suitable method of applying an image to the fabric of photo printing blinds. This is the transfer of an image from paper to fabric. I can’t say anything bad about it (in terms of quality), but in terms of price, labor-intensive application process, especially on vertical blinds, where you need to “tinker” with each lamella separately, and it will take a lot of time.

The paint is absorbed directly into the fibers of the fabric, which is why roller blinds with patterns and photo printing are durable, moisture-resistant (can be hung in swimming pools, saunas), and the fabric can be easily cleaned from light stains. The colors do not fade in the sun and have a rich appearance. If you decide to make roller blinds with photo printing from a manufacturer, do not forget to ask how he applies the photo printing.

Caring for fabric blinds

For any product to look beautiful and last a long time, it is necessary to properly care for it. In this case, everything is simple - you need to walk along the cornice and slats several times a month with a broom or dry cloth; you can use a vacuum cleaner for these purposes.

If the surface of the strips is smooth, then you can remove dust from it using a soft cloth. In the case when the surface is embossed, the fabric will no longer help, since small elements will become clogged with dust, and it will be difficult to remove it from there. It is best to clean embossed slats using a vacuum cleaner.

If it turns out that the fabric strips are very dirty and you need to wash them, then it is better not to do this in a washing machine, even in a delicate mode and without spinning, as this can cause damage to the slats and they will lose their shape. It is best to wash by hand, and this should be done in the following sequence:

  • first you need to detach the strips from the cornice and weights, after which they are rolled up in 3-4 pieces and placed in washing bags (the size of the bags should not allow the slats to unwind during washing);
  • make a soap solution, the water temperature should be +40...+45°C, and bags with lamellas are lowered into it;
  • the fabric should remain in the water for 30-40 minutes, after which it should be rinsed well;
  • the lamellas cannot be squeezed out; they are dried in a vertical position, and weights must be installed;
  • drying should be carried out in natural conditions; they should not be placed near a radiator or fireplace, since accelerated drying may cause the fabric to become deformed.

For washing, it is better to use soap, gel or simple shampoo, rather than powder, as it eats into the fabric, leaves white stains and is difficult to wash later. If you don't have time to wash, or the strips are very dirty, you can always buy new ones.

Material of manufacture

The material from which the slats are made also plays an important role. The service life of the product, its compatibility with the microclimate of various rooms, and the range of textures and colors depend on it. Classic options include fabric and wooden blinds. More modern models already use plastic, bamboo, and paper. Let's look at each type separately.

Plastic

Plastic blinds have a fairly impressive service life, which, however, is inferior to the service life of aluminum structures. PVC is lightweight, easy to install and low cost. The material has increased rigidity and is easy to clean. It can be used in rooms with a difficult microclimate, as it will successfully withstand tests of humidity, high or low temperatures, and heavy pollution. The range of plastic blinds is rich: manufacturers offer designs in a variety of colors and textures. PVC is a popular, affordable material that is combined in interior design only with modern styles.

Fabric

Fabric blinds look incredibly beautiful in the interior of a room. However, they are less practical than structures made from more rigid materials. Of course, fabrics are pre-treated with special impregnations that increase their resistance to dust and dirt, but the material will still have to be cleaned more often than aluminum or plastic. There are two types of blinds:

  • Made from non-woven materials. They are characterized by low cost and short service life. They quickly lose their shape and presentable appearance.
  • Made from woven materials. They are painted with special pigments that do not fade under sunlight. They last much longer than the first type of construction.

Fabric blinds are taboo for the kitchen, bathroom and rooms where a lot of dust or dirt accumulates (workshops, libraries).

Wooden

The very first blinds were made of wood. This material is still popular today as wood is easy to integrate into any setting. Wood brings with it a warm, comfortable atmosphere to the room. The cost of such blinds leaves much to be desired. Special compounds are applied to the material that prevent moisture from penetrating into the pores of the wood and its subsequent swelling and deformation. However, even impregnation will not save the material from fire when in contact with an open flame. It is not recommended to hang such structures in the kitchen near the stove or in the living room next to the fireplace. For the manufacture of lamellas, types of wood that are light in weight are used. Because of this, the structures do not sag over time.

Wooden blinds are easy to clean and retain their presentable appearance for a long time. Since the material is environmentally friendly, it is recommended to be used when decorating bedrooms and children's rooms.

Paper

Paper blinds are classified into two types:

  • Not allowing light to pass through. As a rule, they are made of black paper.
  • Transmitting light. The material is painted in light shades.

Paper is a fragile material. Full-fledged lamellas are rarely made from it. Pleated blinds boast a long service life. Accordion-folded paper is more resistant to mechanical stress. Such blinds are ideal for simple interior solutions and budget renovations, as an alternative to airy, light curtains.

Aluminum

The slats of aluminum blinds are characterized by increased rigidity. For this reason, it is recommended to purchase the material for decorating windows of complex configurations. Aluminum blinds will last a very long time and will even get boring, although their stylistic versatility allows you to adapt the decorative element to any design solution. The material is easy to care for: just periodically wipe the slats with a damp sponge. Aluminum cannot be cleaned only with abrasive compounds, which will inevitably leave scratches on the soft metal. The material is insensitive to temperature changes and high humidity, so it can be used to decorate kitchens and bathrooms. Aluminum blinds are suitable even for windows on “cold” verandas, loggias and attics. There are products fully or partially painted in various colors or with a pattern applied to the surface.

Bamboo

Bamboo blinds are made from environmentally friendly material. Thin lamellas have a presentable appearance, pleasant natural colors, and low weight. The rigid frame does not allow thin blinds to deform. The material is suitable for decorating windows in the bathroom and kitchen, as it is not afraid of contact with water. This option is ideal for the Japanese ethnic style and its modest closest “relative” - minimalism. Apartments decorated with mats, shoji instead of doors and toro lanterns will harmoniously combine with bamboo blinds. Lamels can be made not only from smooth plates, but also have original weaving and texture.

4High-tech

High-tech is one of the most popular modern styles, which requires a simple, strict finish and a minimum of textiles, giving preference to glass, plastic and metal. Restraint, absence of patterns and uniformity of textures are mandatory attributes of this style. Blinds in high-tech style should be made from materials traditional for this style. The color scheme should be combined with the overall interior design of the room, and the height can vary depending on the height of the ceiling, although floor-length blinds are more welcome - this way they will be the central element of the room.

Fabrics for photo printing on blinds

Provided that you have decided to make photo printing on roller blinds or vertical blinds to order. You will need knowledge to select photo printing material. Let's go, the article is long and I'm already tired, so I'll try to briefly convey the most important information.

  1. For photo printing you need to choose only white fabric.
  2. Do not choose fabric made from natural materials (silk, jute, linen). For photo printing, the ideal option is synthetics, 100% polyester. Firstly, paint can be applied to it well, and secondly, it will be easier to care for, wipe off dust, etc.
  3. Which manufacturer to choose is a question for your pocket. The best fabrics are European or Turkish. Türkiye, in my opinion, is the golden mean. But at worst, you can also go to Asia, and not necessarily China; fabrics are also made in India and other Asian countries.
  4. Density - I recommend blackout. The colors on it will be rich and rich. On translucent fabric, the image will not have contrast. Also, a big unpleasant surprise for you will be the moment when during the day, provided that the sun is shining through the window and the fabric partially transmits sunlight, on the canvas with photo printing you will find projections from window partitions, mosquito nets or other contaminants from flying pigeons, which the shadow will fall on the curtain and the pattern in this case will look much worse.

Perhaps these are all recommendations regarding the choice of fabric for blinds with photo printing. Good luck with your purchase. I hope the article was useful to you, if you have any questions or suggestions, leave them in the comments. Good luck!

Ready

Ready-made blinds with photo printing

What can you expect when purchasing ready-made roller blinds with a print or vertical blinds with a picture? Of course these are cheap prices. Very cheap compared to custom made. But there are much more inconveniences than advantages.

  1. The first and most important thing is the size of the curtains. They will be standard, most likely made for typical high-rise apartments, made for either a double-hung window or a three-hung window, a hall window. It will be difficult to select products if you want to hang them separately on each window sash, and it will be impossible to do it perfectly.
  2. The next disadvantage is the lack of choice of material for photo printing and a limited selection of images. Below I will tell you where to get the image if you buy roller blinds with a custom pattern. The material will not be of the highest standard. The cheapest, made in China, which is designed for the mass consumer.

But of course it’s up to you to decide. There are times when the low cost of a product will be a decisive factor, especially at a time of ongoing crisis in the country.
