Why choose organza?
Organza curtains are durable, beautiful and last for years
Although there are more and more materials for curtains every day, organza does not lose popularity. This is not surprising: easy-to-care and aesthetically pleasing fabric has many advantages. Its main advantage is functionality. There are many ways to process and decorate fabric, so there are no problems with choosing the right color and design. Organza is laser processed, perforated, decorated with embroidery and etching. Manufacturers produce both classic and original curtains that will fit into any style you choose.
The material is available in many versions
The fabric has other advantages:
- beauty;
- weightlessness and translucency;
- the ability to maintain a once created form for a long time;
- strength and resistance to mechanical damage;
- low maintenance requirements;
- Preservation of color even in direct sunlight.
Once upon a time, organza was woven from natural silk, but today it is almost impossible to buy organza from silk without impurities, and the price of such fabric will be very high. Modern organza is usually made from two types of threads - viscose and silk - woven together, to which polyester fibers are added for strength. Inexpensive synthetic organza made from polyester is also sold.

Mixed fabrics not only reduce the price of curtains, but also improve the characteristics of the material. Natural silk thread gives a characteristic shine and allows the fabric to breathe, while synthetics improve wear resistance and extend the service life of curtains. In addition, thanks to the admixture of synthetics, the fabric fades less in the sun, dries faster after washing, and does not wrinkle. As a result, caring for curtains is simplified.
Ode to Organza
A century ago it cost incredible amounts of money and only the rich could afford curtains made from it. But thanks to modern production, today the material is affordable and has become very popular for decorating windows in both residential and office spaces.
Organza goes well with different types of fabric
Organza is made in a special way, the secret lies in the special twisting of two fibers, the material is very durable and practical, it has a special shine and shimmers in the sun's rays. Today there are three types of organza:
- natural, made from silk fibers;
- synthetic made of viscose;
- cutting-edge fabric made from synthetic polyester fibers.
Of course, organza curtains do not allow you to completely hide the interior space from light and prying eyes, but with their help you can significantly correct the geometry of the room, place accents and decorate the interior.
The modern market is represented by a large selection of organza, these are shiny and matte surfaces, plain and patterned, with gilding, silvering, chameleon, as well as smooth, crinkled, printed, with sequins and decorated with aluminum threads. The color palette and variety of ornaments are not transferred to calculus. A huge range of textures and colors allows you to bring to life the most incredible design ideas for window decoration.
Previously, organza was used to sew light curtains for the kitchen or as a decorative addition to classic models for the bedroom and living room. Now the fabric has been improved and it is already possible to purchase organza curtains with a light-proof effect. This innovation allows the material to be used not only as an addition, but also for sewing independent textile compositions for windows.
Often several types of organza are used in curtain design
Among the useful characteristics of the material, along with lightness, strength and practicality, one can highlight durability and unpretentiousness during operation, the fabric practically does not wrinkle, does not deform, is resistant to UV rays, is not afraid of household chemicals and solvents, and allows air flow well. And a special advantage of modern organza curtains is their relatively low cost and therefore availability for interior decoration from the simplest to the elite.
The splendor of organza, the variety of colors and textures inspires and encourages you to show your creativity. Looking at such beauty, there is an incentive to sew curtains for the windows with your own hands. The material is perfectly combined with satin and velvet, with tulle, brocade and taffeta, with printed textiles, as well as with linen, silk, etc., which allows you to make organza curtains to suit any interior style.
Weightless organza balances the massiveness of heavy fabrics; such curtains look light and do not weigh down the interior
Creating a stylish drapery
Original drapery
Organza looks great as an addition to Roman blinds. Its weightlessness favorably sets off the solidity of the curtains. This duo will be a good solution for a room of any size.
In regions with a temperate climate, you can limit yourself to one organza on the window. An “independent” curtain will look lighter and more original if you form soft folds on the panel (for example, using eyelets).
Soft blue curtains with eyelets
The time-tested combination of organza with blackout curtains also remains relevant. Original draperies and asymmetry are trending.
Asymmetry is on trend. This design visually enlarges the window and looks unobtrusive and stylish.
Recently, a combination of several types of organza on one cornice has become fashionable. Fabrics may differ in color, pattern, material texture, or all characteristics at the same time.

Elegant organza should be complemented with a lambrequin made of the same or denser fabric.
Lambrequin never goes out of style
The versatility of the fabric makes organza the most popular material for window decoration. It can be combined with light tulle or opaque curtains, and used as independent curtains. This year the combination of Roman blinds and organza came into fashion. This flowing fabric successfully complements almost any lifting and sliding curtains.
Delicate fabric harmonizes with most materials
The combination with blinds is the trend of the year. The solution looks stylish due to the contrast of materials. You don't have to limit yourself to plastic or aluminum blinds; they can be made from any material, even fabric or wooden slats. The choice of form factor - horizontal or vertical design - also remains a personal matter for the designer.
Blinds are mounted directly in front of the glass, on the window sashes or on the frame. Airy transparent fabric is hung on a light curtain rod and visually screens off the blinds, softens their straight lines, and adds a touch of freshness and romance to the composition.
Alone, organza also looks decent
Today, organza is not just a plain white fabric. Many varieties of this material have appeared on the market, because it is one of the most popular in interior design. Below are only the most original new items:
- High-tech organza is a lightweight fabric decorated with metal inserts and threads. Available in one-color or two-color versions, metallized stitching divides the fabric into stripes.
- Chameleon curtains are a fabric that visually changes color depending on the light and direction of the light.
- Photo printing on organza is a solution that allows you to make the image even more realistic. It looks especially good with a pattern depicting animals or natural landscapes swaying from a light gust of wind.
- Fabric with the effect of snow sparkling in the light.
- Crash style. The fabric, decorated with broken patterns and torn lines, resembles broken glass. The ultra-fashionable appearance makes this organza the highlight of the interior.
- Mixed fabric with the addition of cotton or wool thread. Organza looks original and is suitable for eclectic style interiors.
Bright bedroom
Airy organza is an ideal solution for decorating a bedroom window. Such curtains visually expand the space, give the room coziness and lightness to the composition.

Embroidered organza shades the room, but does not protect from the scorching sun during the day
Unfortunately, delicate transparent fabric does not protect from the sun, so for a comfortable sleep, weightless curtains will have to be supplemented with thick curtains, Roman shades or blinds. For example, blackout curtains will allow you to sleep in absolute darkness.
Absolute darkness can be achieved by adding blackout curtains to the curtains.
Although finding the perfect match can take a long time, the results often exceed your wildest hopes. Against the background of dense fabric, delicate organza shines, looks lighter and richer. In a word, it reveals all its advantages.

The bedroom is a great place for bold experiments with curtain decor. You can purchase curtains with gold or silver plating, fabric decorated with beads, machine embroidery, contrasting braid or matching border.
Unusual combinations can be successful
If the room is spacious, you can decorate the curtains with a complex lambrequin, and hang a decorative or full-fledged canopy made of the same fabric above the bed.
A canopy made of the same fabric completes the composition.
Translucent curtains with painted exotic butterflies or tropical birds add a romantic touch to the interior. They literally come to life at the slightest breath of wind, making the mood peaceful and dreams sweet.
Spacious hall
The hall is a place for experiments and fashionable solutions
The living room or hall is the calling card of the house. The curtains in this room should look perfect: elegant and luxurious. So the following requirements apply to them:
- curtains should be easy to wash and dry (dirty or dusty curtains spoil the whole impression);
- drapery should look solemn and modern;
- the fabric should not interfere with the view or block the light.
Monochromatic interior in creamy beige
Organza fully complies with the above conditions. In addition, it allows you to create a trendy design, which is especially important for a hall or living room. You can safely play with shades, select original accessories, create unusual stylish compositions and draperies. The choice is yours - choose any shades and texture of the fabric, combine the material with companion fabrics, or complement the curtains with a lambrequin.
Don't be afraid of experiments and bold combinations, but make sure there is sufficient lighting
Designers do not insist that the window should be the central element of the decor. Neutral compositions are also trending, where the window is only a functional detail. If you don’t like interiors in which curtains attract all the attention, choose curtains of a simple shape and a calm shade, and don’t get carried away with additional decor of window openings.
Stylish room in lilac tones
Solemnity and comfort are possible at the same time. Decorate stylish organza with cute tiebacks or ribbons, tuck the fabric to the side using decorative cord with tassels, or decorate curtains with decorative braid. Curtains fixed in a folded position look more interesting and do not interfere with enjoying the view from the window.
Use grabbers if necessary
Fashionable golden beige color
In 2020, the recommended method of attaching curtains has changed. If previously curtains always hung closer to the glass, and curtains slightly obscured them, today designers advise doing the opposite. Thick, light-blocking curtains serve as a background for the pattern on translucent organza. The curtain in front of the curtains, closer to the room, looks extremely unusual, although the functions of both materials remain the same: curtains protect from direct sunlight, and light curtains prevent dust from entering from the street and slightly shade the room.
Magic world on the nursery window
Organza will allow you to realize your childhood desire to get into a fairy tale. Fancy draperies and bright patterns on the fabric will make window decoration a real path to the world of magic. An atmosphere of lightness and miracles is just what you need for a children's room. Kids will love cute cartoon characters printed using photo printing. For older children, characters from their favorite TV series or just colorful curtains are suitable.

It is important that the child feels comfortable playing and studying in his room. Be sure to hang thick curtains, blinds or Roman shades that will not let in the scorching rays of the sun.

In addition, curtains are not always needed, which is why they often choose exclusively organza, thanks to which light penetrates during the day without difficulty, illuminating the room with natural light. At the same time, it will to some extent cover what is outside the window.
Sunny kitchen
Organza is not a capricious material. You can even hang it when the window borders the work area. Easy to care for, this fabric is considered the best option for decorating a window opening in a modern kitchen. Are the curtains dirty? Machine wash them and hang them back, no need to iron.
Photo printing - a fashionable solution for the kitchen
With all its versatility, do not forget that the material remains light and flammable. With every gust of wind, the curtain literally flies over the window. For safety's sake, do not use organza near the stove, but rather replace it with short curtains made of thick fabric, Roman or Austrian blinds.

DIY organza curtains ↑
There are several options for making beautiful transparent curtains for the kitchen. You can buy a ready-made kit or order your favorite model from the studio. However, it is easier and cheaper to sew elegant organza curtains with your own hands: the photo shows the finished product - a curtain with eyelets.
White curtain with eyelets
To work you will need:
- fabric (dimensions are calculated based on the size of the cornice - usually 2.5 times its length);
- denser fabric for finishing (cuff);
- eyelets (an even number is required, the interval between adjacent eyelets is from 15 cm to 22 cm);
- grommet tape.
Before purchasing, we draw a diagram, calculate the dimensions, and specify the number of eyelets. The drawing of a straight curtain looks like this:
Eyelet layout
Sewing instructions:
- We cut the fabric into the required pieces and process the side seams.
- We form the upper part - the cuff, to which we glue the grommet tape (with an iron). Cuff width – 25 cm.
- Press the hem and seam allowances.
- Sew the sides of the cuff and turn the right side out.
- We insert the main section into the cuff (about 2-2.5 cm), make a stitch.
- We make markings - we mark the locations of the eyelets with dots. The distance from the top edge is 4 cm.
- We trace the eyelets along the inner edge, cut out holes along the circles (but 2 cm larger).
- Snap the eyelets.
All that remains is to put the finished product on the cornice. During the stringing process, make sure that the folds lie evenly.
