The classic design of a sofa, called a “book,” is familiar to every resident of our country from childhood, even to those who are far from furniture production. It is rightly considered one of the most simple to use and convenient, for a long time remaining the most popular of all possible analogues. However, recently another mechanism for transforming a sofa has become widespread - the “Eurobook”, which has many more advantages. Of course, it costs a little more in comparison with the old version, but its long service life, strength and safety more than compensate for this minus.
Types of Eurobook sofas
A Eurobook sofa for the bedroom, and other rooms according to their purpose, is quite popular and in demand among other models, thanks to the simple folding mechanism and the main varieties:
Corner models have numerous advantages, but their disadvantage is their bulky size. For example, a corner sofa made of white leather will add style and beauty to a modern interior.
Direct ones are the most popular and familiar to almost everyone. Due to its compactness, it fits perfectly even into a small room; it is mainly produced with wooden armrests and has a comfortable base for sleeping.
With armrests. This model is slightly larger in size than the previous ones, but due to the armrests the sofa takes on a solid and respectable appearance. This type can often be found in offices.
Models without armrests are a win-win option for arranging small apartments.
Mechanisms for sofas “Click-clack”: features and advantages
When choosing a sofa folding mechanism, you want to purchase a multifunctional, convenient option. Thus, the “Click-Klyak” sofa can be used not only as a chair, but also as a bed, as well as a place to store bedding.
Sofas with the “Click-Click” mechanism have long appeared on the market and are popular, which is ensured by the original appearance and ease of operation of the product. This type of sofa has several transformation options, since the features of the mechanism allow you to select several back positions.

Depending on the method of use, the furniture can be turned into a full-fledged sleeping place, or you can not recline the back all the way - and in this case you will get a comfortable place, reminiscent of a chaise lounge, in which you can comfortably sit for reading or knitting. The second transformation option allows you to transform the product into a chair with comfortable armrests. Other advantages of using this type of sofa mechanism include:
- Beautiful design. Thanks to their unusual appearance, finished products will be an excellent addition to modern interiors.
- Reliability and durability. Frame elements and mechanism parts are made of durable materials, most often durable steel that can withstand heavy loads is used.
- Comfortable sleeping place. When unfolded, no bumps, holes or protrusions are formed on the surface intended for sleeping, which could interfere with comfortable rest.
- High quality content. The design of the sofa usually uses a filling made from polyurethane foam, a material that is not subject to deformation and does not sag. The rigidity of the base is maintained even after a long period of use.
- Compact parameters. Thanks to its small size, the sofa can be placed in tight spaces.
- The presence of additional storage compartments.
Depending on the method of use, the furniture can be turned into a full-fledged sleeping place, or you can not recline the back all the way
Helpful advice! When installing this type of sofa, you need to leave enough space between the wall and the back, which is necessary in order to unfold the product. If you do not take this point into account, you will need to move it to the required distance each time before unfolding the device.
The operating principle of the “Click-Click” design can be compared with the “Eurobook” mechanism, when you first need to slightly lift and pull the seat up. After performing this action, a characteristic click will sound, after which the seat of the product, which pulls the back of the sofa behind it, lowers and lies in a horizontal position, creating a berth. If desired, the backrest is located at an intermediate level and forms an angle of 45 degrees.
Another use case involves adjusting the armrests, which involves folding out the berth in length. At the same time, the armrests can be completely raised or lowered, creating a comfortable place to rest.
Advantages of a Eurobook sofa
The advantages of a Eurobook sofa include:
- ease of use;
- reliability of design;
- long service life;
- the presence of orthopedic parts and pillows;
- the presence of drawers in the sofa for storing bedding;
- variety of sizes, colors and materials used;
- visual appeal and functionality;
- convenience of location, there is no need to find a specific place for its location;
- the presence of removable covers that modern sofa models are equipped with;
- the use of spring blocks, orthopedic materials and polyurethane foam as sofa fillers;
- diverse pricing policy, depending on certain criteria: upholstery material, type of filler, quality of mechanism, etc.
Features of the Eurobook mechanisms and the book sofa: main differences and characteristics
The sofa-book and Eurobook mechanisms were among the first to be developed. They gained their popularity due to the simplicity of their design. If you look at the photo of the sofa-book, you will notice that the main difference from the “Eurobook” is the absence of a rear fixed wall. The sofa book cannot be placed close to the wall, because unfolding requires an additional gap between the wall and the product. The model is easy to use and comfortable to sit on.
The transformation mechanism of Eurobook sofas is considered more modern and durable. If the sofa-book has a room formed as a result of the adhesion of two planes, then the “Eurobook”, when unfolded, has elements that are laid separately on the base. This mechanism ensures a more correct arrangement of parts and creates a level place to sleep. Other advantages of using Eurobook:
- minimum occupied usable space in the room;
- installation in folded form close to the wall;
- large sleeping area when unfolded;
- convenient and simple mechanism that even a child can handle;
- the presence of a large storage box at the bottom of the sofa;
- large seat when folded;
- choice of various fillers and frame upholstery;
- wide range of prices.

The Eurobook mechanism in sofas: how it looks and works
Often in shopping centers you can find another name for the product - “Eurosofa”. This type of sofa received the prefix “euro-” due to its origin, because the product was first invented in Germany and became a modern, improved model of a sofa-book. Despite the fact that the product appeared a long time ago, the mechanism itself remained practically the same. However, the quality of parts and materials used in manufacturing has been improved. To know how the Eurobook sofa unfolds, you need to familiarize yourself with the main stages of transformation:
- First you need to pull the base of the structure, which serves as a seating area, towards you.
- The presence of special guides will allow you to pull out the lower part, after which the niche built into the bottom will open.
- After the structure moves away, you need to lower the back of the sofa, which will fill the resulting niche and create a single surface that serves as a sleeping place.
This is interesting! In fact, the Eurobook does not have any special mechanism, and folding occurs due to the structural features. The main condition when choosing a sofa is to take into account the quality of the guides, which are made of metal or hardwood.
Due to the fact that the design of the “Eurobook” is simple, there is virtually nothing to break in such a sofa. Problems usually fix themselves. Most often, repairs involve tightening the fastening elements and lubricating the mechanism. If the product is made with high quality, then the difference between the two parts should not be felt; attention should be paid to this even before purchase. Below you can watch a video of the Eurosophy layout mechanism, which additionally shows the main nuances of using the sofa.
Due to the fact that the design of the Eurobook is simple, there is virtually nothing to break in such a sofa
Another disadvantage of using the Eurobook is the mechanical impact on the floor covering, especially if you plan to fold and unfold the product daily. Therefore, if there is parquet or laminate on the floor, it is better to have wheels installed instead of legs. If you have a thick carpet, you can purchase a product with regular legs, but you need to be prepared for the fact that over time, dents will form in the places where they rest on the surface.
Looking through photos of Eurobook sofas, you can notice that there is a large selection of models. Thus, for small apartments it is recommended to buy ready-made products without armrests, which take up minimal space. The sofa with two armrests has an increased length (by approximately 0.5 meters), but this model provides additional support for the cushions both in the unfolded and folded state. An intermediate option between the two types of products is the “Eurobook” with one armrest, suitable for any room.
Upholstery selection
The most commonly used upholstery materials are:
- velor, which is suitable for both a children's room and a living room;
- flock will also look good in a nursery and will set a certain mood with its bright color;
- genuine leather is a win-win option for the kitchen, as it does not absorb dirt and odors and is easy to clean;
- Suede has a luxurious look, but is completely impractical to use.
Types of Eurobook sofas and their features
There are many models of Eurobooks, which differ in shape, style, layout options and other parameters.
Straight, angular, U-shaped
The form is:
- Direct. Simple in shape, usually with cushions on the back. Due to its compactness, a straight sofa is often used for small spaces.
- Angular. Eurobook sofas of this type are suitable for the living room interior. But the model is also good for a sleeping place because it allows you to make it large and comfortable.
- U-shaped (see photo below). Furniture made in the shape of the letter P. It will look good in the interior of a large living room, quite spacious and roomy. When unfolded, you get an elongated 2-berth.
Doubles, triples
According to the number of seats, direct models are divided into double and triple. They can accommodate two or three people, respectively. Corner and U-shaped sofas can accommodate more people.
With one armrest, with two armrests, without armrests
According to the presence and number of armrests they are divided into:
- Sofas without armrests. Thanks to the absence of armrests, free space in the room is saved. This model looks good in rooms in a youthful, free style. These sofas can be without pillows, or with pillows - as a replacement for armrests. Cushions can be removed if necessary. The furniture is good for tall people.
- Sofas with armrests:
- with one armrest. This type is most optimal for small apartments. Suitable for rest and sleep for people of different heights;
- with two. The sofa is distinguished by its visual appeal. Can be with soft fabric or hard wooden armrests. When choosing such a Eurobook, you need to take into account the height of the person who will sleep on it.

Two-section, three-section
Depending on the number of sections on sale there are:
- Two-section Eurobook. The classic and most common option. These models can easily be transformed into double beds and are suitable for daily sleep.
- Three-section Eurobook. When unfolded, due to the additional third section, they form a fairly long berth.
Spring, springless
1. Spring. They have a block of springs and have high orthopedic advantages. There can be two types:
- bonnel (dependent springs). The springs in the block are interconnected. The sofa is affordable, but does not last more than 10 years;
- independent. The springs are packed in separate cases. This creates comfortable conditions for sitting and sleeping. The service life of the unit is 15 years, but the price is quite high.
2. Springless. These sofas have soft filling. Under the upholstery there is soft material:
- foam rubber This option does not last long and is quickly destroyed;
- polyurethane foam. The material is highly dense, retains its shape for a long time and wears out slowly. More suitable for sitting than sleeping;
- latex. High-quality filler that ensures comfortable sleep, but expensive.
Eurobook sofa with orthopedic mattress
Under the upholstery there is not a spring block or foam rubber, but an orthopedic mattress, which is perfectly suitable for daily use. It provides good sleep and a state of alertness. The mattress is high quality and durable. The Eurobook orthopedic sofa is comfort and health.
With linen box
Eurobooks also come with a linen drawer. Under the seating part of this sofa there is a large compact drawer. You can store bed linen, towels, etc. In it, you can put decorative pillows there if necessary.
For adults, children
Manufacturers produce models for both adults and children. Adult sofas are used for the bedroom, living room, kitchen or for offices. The options can be very diverse. The children's version is suitable for a child over 5 years old, as well as for teenagers. It has a safe design and a simple transformation mechanism.
Children's sofas are usually equipped with orthopedic mattresses.
Advantages and design features
Due to the wide variety of transformation mechanisms, not everyone understands what a “Eurobook” is. They are confused with the “Ordinary Book” or “Tango” and other variations.
When folded, it is a regular sofa with a straight back. When unfolded there is a double bed.
The sleeping surface is not as large as, for example, the Dolphin design, but sufficient for a couple to rest comfortably.
The folding mechanism is simple: the lower part on rollers is pushed forward, freeing up a niche in which the back of the sofa is placed. This results in a smooth surface with a minimally noticeable connection point. This piece of furniture is compact in size, so it is most often chosen for small apartments.
The advantages of a sofa with a Eurobook transformation mechanism are obvious:
- Simplicity of design. Even a child can handle the unfolding.
- Compact sizes. This model is the optimal solution for small one-room apartments.
- Strength, durability. The mechanism is so simple that there is practically nothing to break in it.
- Smooth surface. The junction of the seat and the backrest is practically not felt, it is comfortable to sleep.
- Storage boxes. The niche under the seat is quite spacious, suitable for storing bedding or seasonal items.
There is only one main drawback - the seat is wide, so it is not very comfortable to sit on it, pressing against the back of the sofa, which is quite hard on this side when folded. This disadvantage is offset by the presence of large removable pillows, which are equipped with each model with the Eurobook mechanism.
Such sofas are distinguished by their budget price and a diverse range of models - from bright options for a child’s room to stylish solutions for the living room.
