What colors are stretch ceilings?
Glossy stretch ceilings come in almost every color of the rainbow
Pastel colors are the strong point of matte ceilings
Let's figure out what the colors of suspended ceilings are. Absolutely any! However, the palette differs for different types of ceilings. For example, in glossy ones (see the article “What types of stretch ceilings are there”) it is the richest. And so much so that only half of the possible shades fit in the catalog in the photo (see photo).
Satin ceilings are very similar in color to matte
Color range of fabric ceilings
Matte, satin and fabric ceilings have a poorer choice of colors. However, it's not scary. As a rule, people do not want to install bright matte or satin ceilings and prefer warm and pastel colors. As for fabric ones, they are rarely chosen due to their operational features.
Features of canvases for suspended ceilings
There are two types of canvases for suspended ceilings:
- PVC film;
- fabric cloth.
In both cases, it is possible to produce colored fabric. However, fabric stretch ceilings have fewer shades offered by manufacturers.
Regarding the PVC film canvas, there is a fairly wide range of colors, which consists of 150 or more shades. But such a fabric has less strength than fabric.
The fabric fabric is treated with special materials that give it special strength. Such canvas can be installed even in unheated rooms, since they are resistant to temperature changes, which distinguishes them from canvases made from PVC film.
PVC film has another advantage that fabric does not have - the film can protect the room from flooding. Simply drain the water and dry it.
Once dismantled, the fabric sheet usually cannot be reinstalled.
Both fabric and PVC film sheets require a distance from the main ceiling during installation. The downside here is the reduction in ceiling height, but the upside is the ability to hide communications running along the ceiling behind the canvas, as well as all surface defects. At the same time, the canvas creates additional noise and heat insulation.
If you do not take into account the period of time that will be required for the manufacture of the canvas, then its actual installation is carried out in a fairly short time, and takes much less time than any other finish. However, the cost of such a ceiling may be lower than standard finishing options.
Each room has its own ceiling
According to the spectrum, all colors are divided into cold and warm.
And if they talk about pastel colors, then they mean the top, lightest rows of both spectra. Why is it important what color the ceilings have in rooms with different functions? Because it affects a person’s mood and activity. It is completely illogical if, for example, in the bathroom the color will lull you to sleep, but in the study it will induce appetite.
To avoid such situations, let's look at what ceiling colors should be used in different rooms and why.

General mood of the room
When it comes to living space, you need to take into account not only fashion trends in design, but also your own preferences. This also applies to the selection of the color of the ceiling, and absolutely all the details present in the design of the hall, bedroom or any other room.
Properties of shades:
- Red has a stimulating effect on the psyche; it is better not to use it in the bedroom, children's room and living room if you are going to spend time quietly in this room.
- Orange tones and encourages active action; recently it has been popularly used in kitchens.
- Yellow improves your mood, but you should not overdo it with its brightness.
- Green is quite a dangerous color. If you choose calm coniferous shades, it will have a beneficial effect on the psyche, help restore nerves to a normal state, and normalize blood pressure. Light green colors have the exact opposite effect, and such a ceiling can be downright annoying if you choose a bright shade option.
- Blue and blue have a calming effect on a person. Deep blue shades can even slow down and frankly make you sleepy.
- The choice of purple color is strictly individual for each individual person; it irritates some people, while it brings someone’s psyche back to normal. After all, purple combines two opposite colors – red and blue.
- Beige and brown are aristocratic shades, which, according to scientists, even stimulate discipline and mental balance.

These properties should become decisive when choosing the overall color scheme for a particular room. After all, we just have to come to terms with their influence on us, regardless of whether we like the shade or not.
Perhaps variations in shades will be decisive in this matter, because burgundy, unlike red, puts thoughts in order. And pink evokes a feeling of euphoria. The same happens with other colors.
Choosing the color of a stretch ceiling is a scrupulous task and it is worth approaching the issue by weighing all the pros and cons.
We look at the ceiling more often than at the walls, and this is another observation of scientists. This applies to both the bedroom and the living room, in general – those rooms where we relax. That is why choosing the color of a stretch ceiling is a serious task for anyone who has decided to undertake renovations in one room or in the entire house.
We adjust the color to the size

A white multi-level ceiling even in a large room does not look boring

As you know, according to size, rooms are divided into small, medium and... chic. What colors of suspended ceilings are preferable for each of them?
In a small room or a room with low ceilings, it is better not to experiment and install a white stretch ceiling. It does not create an additional color load, which makes the space visually smaller. If this color makes you sad, choose any pastel shade instead: beige, soft peach, pearlescent, gray, etc. Also, do not exclude cool colors: blue, cyan, sea green. Looking at such ceilings, you feel the “depth” of the sea or the “height” of the sky.
Don't forget about the room parameters
When choosing a shade, we are guided by simple rules that can make a large room more comfortable and visually expand a small room. For example:
- light colors make the walls taller and the room itself more spacious. These are white, beige, light blue, peach shades.
- deep dark shades, for example, blue, green and burgundy can make an overly large room more suitable for a cozy home time; they can be used when decorating a spacious hall;
- The room can be given more officiality with the help of a blue, brown, black or white ceiling.

Do not forget about the variety of textures of modern film materials. With their help, you can also play with the design of the space in the ceiling area. Glossy surfaces expand the room, especially if they reflect light from the windows.
A dark, poorly lit room can be made lighter by using a pastel range of classic color shades. And vice versa, if the room is too brightly lit, then the light will be effectively absorbed by the matte surface of the dark spectrum of shades of the stretch ceiling.
The same principle will help to zone a room. For example, in the living room you can allocate space for relaxation, an office and a play area for children. The division of one room into zones is influenced by both the different levels of the ceiling and the difference in its color, painting the walls in different tones, and differences in floor heights.
The main thing is that the room ultimately has a complete look and can fully serve the owners of the house exactly as it was originally intended.

Choosing colors depending on lighting
If you make blue or blue stretch ceilings in the northern room, it will look “cold” and uncomfortable
In artificial light, peach does not look the same as in natural light.
In this case, lighting refers to all its types: artificial or natural – as well as brightness.
Let's say you are choosing colored stretch ceilings for a room with artificial lighting. In this case, warm shades will look good: orange, yellow, red, etc. With their “solar” energy they compensate for the lack of lighting and make the room brighter.
Remember that incandescent light (see the article “Lighting for the Bathroom and Toilet”) makes some colors look a little different than they really are. For example, light yellow, cream and other pastel colors seem inexpressive and somewhat dirty (see photo). Blue approaches green, red approaches yellow, blue and brown approach black, and so on. But under the light of halogen, LED and fluorescent lamps, the shades hardly change.
