How to choose the design and color of curtains for blue wallpaper

The most winning combinations

Color plays a paramount role in design. It carries a certain energy. Blue color pacifies, calms, relaxes, establishes harmony and sets the mood for pleasant communication. This atmosphere is favorable in any room, except, perhaps, the office and the sports corner.

The uniqueness of this color is that it can be used “solo”; it does not need additional colors or other compositional elements. When decorating windows it is used with different shades:

  • with blue, purple, turquoise (monochrome solutions);
  • with white, gray, silver, gray-green (adjacent shades);
  • with opposite colors - sand, pink, coral, light orange.

Blue tones are found quite often in nature. And they go with many shades. However, there are a number of rules on how to properly use blue curtains in the interior:

  1. If the room is spacious and well lit by the sun, calm colors are chosen. Bright textiles will seem like a “poisonous” stain.

  2. In dark rooms, windows are decorated with light blue canvases, which visually make the room lighter and more voluminous.
  3. The combination of bright curtains and pastel colors encourages activity (motor and mental), stimulates action.
  4. The combination with beige is one of the most common in the interior, where beige acts as the basis.
  5. Dark shades are used only in bright rooms with high ceilings. Such curtains will look especially harmonious with brown furniture. Brown-blue interior always looks luxurious.
  6. Using several variations of blue in decoration does not always lead to a successful combination. In most cases, the design will become colorful, “screaming”, and then it will be redone again.
  7. The combination with white gives additional visual volume.

Spectacular combinations

Modern materials provide a huge selection and opportunities for the implementation of the most daring projects. You can experiment with colors, patterns, and fabric weaving. Combine different textures and sizes of canvases. Green fabrics have features that should be taken into account:

  1. Green curtains in the interior of a green living room are quite a bold decision. With the right arrangement of flowers, you can turn such a room into a pretty oasis. But still, a combination of no more than three green shades is considered correct. Moreover, only one can be active;
  2. The combination of green and white makes the entire space feel light. Emerald or grass curtains along with white furniture and walls will do a great job of giving the room a fresh look. And dark green fabrics will add style and neatness;
  3. Designers very often choose brown and green sets, as in the photo below. With rich brown shades, deep greens are always present. And lighter beige or terracotta walls go perfectly with delicate light green curtains. These two colors are largely intertwined in nature, so they have many combinations and easily fit into any interior;
  4. Green and blue surprisingly do not conflict even with the saturation of each. Two bright, deep shades will look great in the same room. This makes it possible to search and experiment in creating unique interiors;
  5. Green and gray are also quite common in nature. When decorating a living room, it emphasizes elegance and tenderness. Thick curtains in a rich green color are perfectly supported by gray walls or a silver pattern.

When choosing fabric frames for windows, you need to focus on your feelings. If the shades of green are perceived harmoniously and leave a pleasant impression, you can happily start decorating. When decorating the entire room, all that remains is to add a few bright accessories and place accents as in the photo.

Shades of color in various styles

There are more than 100 shades of blue. There are five most popular interior styles:

  • heavenly (relaxes);
  • turquoise (charges with energy);
  • cornflower blue (creates a romantic mood);
  • aquamarine (harmonizes the state of mind);
  • icy blue (refreshes, gives a feeling of coolness).

Window canvases, depending on the purpose of the room, can be plain or decorated with patterns, checks or stripes.

Blue curtains are appropriate for decorating rooms in various interior styles. They organically “fit” into neoclassicism, neo-baroque, minimalism, hi-tech, modern, loft, beach cottage, Provence and country. Only the shades of the blue-blue palette are selected differently:

  • for high-tech rooms, cool shades are preferable;
  • country involves natural fabrics in warm colors, checkered or patterned;
  • in Provence, plant elements and natural materials are organically combined with heavenly shades;
  • a minimalist interior is characterized by calm tones, so a gray-blue roller blind will organically combine with snow-white and gray tones;
  • The splendor of the “neoclassical” style is emphasized by curtains of a refreshing blue color.

Curtains for the bedroom and nursery

Decorating window openings in blue tones is possible in the living room, bedroom, nursery, and kitchen.

It is preferable to hang light blue curtains in the bedroom. This will create a peaceful and calm environment. Alternatively, you can use a nautical design. Then you need to add white curtains to the blue curtains, lay out blue and white pillows on the bed, and place several red or orange floor lamps for contrast. Another touch is the gray bedside tables. The original bedroom design is ready.

To create a blue bedroom, double curtains are made: a light white curtain (can be sand-colored) and thick cornflower blue curtains, preferably made of velvet or brocade. Instead of white, you can choose yellow or green, but then the sky-colored curtains will appear in a duet with yellow-green curtains. The proposed window design allows you, if necessary, to distance yourself from the outside world and have a good rest.

Curtains for the nursery should be gentle. Blue canvases will stimulate the child to develop and promote a positive mood. They are suitable for both girls and boys. A roller blind of the same tone goes well with long curtains.

Blue windows in the interior of the living room and kitchen

The living room puts forward certain requirements for curtains, because it is a public place visited by guests. There can be no simple options here. Therefore, textiles for window decoration are chosen to be sophisticated and expensive. And the style of blue curtains can be ornate. The shade is chosen depending on the mood created in the living room. Cornflower blue curtains will create a slight feeling of freshness and coolness. Sky curtains in combination with gray transparent curtains will bring lightness and airiness to the living room. In general, two types of curtains are traditionally used for this room: thick and weightless.

If the room is filled with warmth and light, the window opening can be decorated with transparent blue fabrics sewn in the shape of a cascade. A slight movement of air will cause a ripple, similar to a water flow.

The design of a country-style living room involves natural, single-color canvases. A roller blind with a floral pattern will also come in handy.

Blue windows and brown interior colors will give the room a special charm. Window decoration in brown or yellow-blue tones looks advantageous.

For the kitchen, the best combination is heavenly (windows) and beige (walls). For poorly lit rooms, windows are decorated in two layers: light light curtains and white tulle. For sunny kitchens, a blue-gray roller blind is preferable.

Depending on the stylistic design of the room, the shade, pattern and tailoring of the curtains are selected. It is not recommended to hang thick curtains in the kitchen: they will make the room dull and somewhat gloomy, because the amount of sunlight will be limited. The exception is Roman or roller blinds.

Characteristics of green color

The choice of green fabric for curtains indicates that the person is quite modern and has a bold approach to home design and decoration. This color option may come as a surprise to a large number of guests, but the advantage of decorating methods lies precisely in the ability to create non-standard compositions. And the main secret to the successful use of green colors lies in the ability to rationally combine it with furniture and fittings.

Green in the living room interior

On a note! Psychologists call shades of green the colors of relaxation, harmony and freshness.

Dark green curtains in the living room

Green is quite a complex color. For example, its palette is so diverse that sometimes it is difficult to specifically describe the color and give a definition. It would be inaccurate to simply indicate the shade as light green, since many colors can correspond to this concept. To make it clear to a person what specific color we are talking about, it is worth giving examples of individual things whose colors are well known. For example, mustard, mint, menthol and others. In addition, green colors differ in brightness and color intensity; they can be muted and pale, or highly saturated.

A green paradise at home helps you overcome the stress of everyday work and helps you feel, at least temporarily, your integrity with nature.

But such a wide palette has its significant advantages. First of all, this is that the green color can be selected to suit any interior and decor, and it will always fit harmoniously. The main thing is to most accurately and correctly choose the shade you need.
