Types of ventilation valves for PVC windows
The ventilation valve is a PVC plastic box attached to the part of the window structure located on top. Inside the box there are so-called “feathers”, the position of which determines the amount of air supplied from outside.
In calm weather, the flow passes through the valve freely; when wind appears and intensifies, the feathers are pressed against one side of the valve, preventing the appearance of drafts and the entry of excessive amounts of cold air. Air exchange is regulated naturally. The cost of the valve is significantly lower than devices for forced ventilation; moreover, during operation they do not make noise and do not consume electricity.
Rice. 2. Operating principle of the valve.
Slot type valves
One of the most common (along with rebated) ventilation valve options. A slot-type valve provides air ventilation into the room through a special channel resembling a slot. Its length ranges from 17 to 40 cm, and its width from 1.2 to 1.6 cm.
The valve is manufactured in two versions:
- in the form of two blocks - external (which lets in air from outside) and regulating (responsible for the amount of air entering the room;
- in the form of one universal block.
The advantages of the slot option are a fairly large volume of possible air exchange (allowing the product to be used in spacious rooms) and the ability to install a valve without dismantling the window unit.
Rice. 3. Slot type valve before installation.
Seam type valves
Valves of this type of design are also quite common. The reason for their popularity is the possibility of their installation without removing the plastic window, the relatively low cost of the product, as well as maintaining a high level of sound insulation of the window structure. This is achieved by the fact that air enters the room through special rebated cutouts in the plastic window block.
At the same time, the volume of air exchange provided by the rebated valve is small. Therefore, the valves in question are optimally used for small living rooms or rooms that are used infrequently.
Rice. 4. Seam type valve.
Trim type valves
Overhead valves are most often installed and actively used in glazing industrial facilities or large premises of public buildings. It is there that the main property of this design is best used, namely ensuring the maximum volume of air exchange.
However, the disadvantages of overhead valves include:
- the impossibility of installing them on already installed window structures;
- high cost of products;
- noticeable deterioration in the parameters of thermal and sound insulation of the window structure.
All this has led to the fact that overhead valves are practically not used in residential construction.

Plastic windows with ventilation
Ventilation of plastic windows is of utmost importance to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment. We will tell you about it in more detail.
In recent years, the use of sealed plastic, aluminum or wooden windows with double-glazed windows has become increasingly popular for construction.
It is worth recognizing that this trend seems quite logical. After all, windows provide significant energy savings, reducing the cost of heating your home and making it really much more comfortable - the undoubted advantages of modern windows.
Plastic windows have gained great popularity due to the attractive ratio of thermal properties and declared cost; the advantages are complemented by accessibility and comparatively low cost of maintenance in the future.
But practice confirms not only important advantages, but also reveals some disadvantages and specific problems of using sealed windows, mainly of a sanitary and hygienic nature. Plastic windows, as the leader in sales, are more subject to such criticism.
Supply ventilation of plastic windows (climate control) is a special device that can be used to provide a limited, pre-calculated flow of fresh air when the window is closed - within 20-35 m3/h. Installation is carried out in the frame and sash; it can also be installed on existing windows.
- Ventilation of plastic windows inherits the advantages of modern PVC windows, providing:
- Better supply of oxygen, allowing you to get rid of air pollution.
- Prevents the appearance of condensation on double-glazed windows and slopes, which can cause fungal mold.
- Protection for the premises from dust, precipitation, insects, poplar fluff.
- Draft for fireplaces and stoves.
- Reduce costs for efficient space heating.
According to the current Building Codes and Rules, air exchange for residential buildings should be equal to 3 m3/h per 1 sq. m. meter of living space. For bathrooms and kitchens, the figure should be 60-90 m3/h, although real figures for closed plastic, wooden and aluminum windows today do not reach 6 m3/h.
Statistics confirm that in large cities, residents have to stay indoors for almost 80% of their lives. When air is inhaled, bacteria, viruses, and fungi remain in the human body.
A special name has even been invented for the painful condition that arises due to the influence of a closed room - Sick building syndrome.
The supply of clean air to mass-produced buildings is ensured by natural ventilation through cracks in doors and windows; it mixes with polluted air in the room and is removed through exhaust ducts located in the kitchen or bathrooms. Such ventilation is distinguished by its ease of use and cost-effectiveness.
When installing plastic windows, sealed doors with low air permeability are kept with non-functioning ventilation, which leads to an increase in the level of relative humidity, bringing the content of harmful substances in the air to dangerous levels.
If the room is poorly ventilated, people living or working in it are faced with decreased immunity and various diseases such as chronic migraine, bronchial asthma, allergies, bronchitis, runny nose and cardiovascular diseases.
How to prevent such consequences? Among the most economical and affordable solutions, we should note hourly ventilation of the premises yourself or installation of forced-air window ventilation (climate control), which will allow fresh air to enter the room.
It should be noted the low efficiency of opening the window sash, because this disrupts the temperature regime, the temperature in the room changes sharply, which can cause a cold, while worsening the sound insulation in the room - sometimes this is a serious problem when the windows overlook traffic routes or busy areas .
To ensure stable air circulation for apartments, houses, cottages, hotels and other facilities where maintaining a healthy microclimate is required, it is recommended to install fresh air ventilation for plastic windows, as well as aluminum structures, aluminum with double-glazed windows, installing high-quality ventilation valves on plastic windows.
Simply put, window ventilation is the replacement of exhaust air with fresh air. Such air exchange can be done in two main ways: natural and artificial. Natural ventilation - it is based on the difference in air density in a cold state (outside) and warm air (indoors).
As a result of this difference, warm air from the room, which is lighter, moves upward and is replaced by cooler air coming from outside. This ventilation occurs within a useful temperature range and is better suited for winter.
Mechanical ventilation - air exchange is carried out using one or more ventilation devices, the advantage of which is that it operates regardless of weather conditions (wind, air temperature, etc.).
The devastating effects of poor window ventilation
Condensation on double-glazed windows, fungus on the walls, draft during ventilation - these are just some of the problems associated with the incompatibility of plastic windows with the role for which they should be responsible in the building's ventilation system.
Cooking, washing, bathing, as well as breathing and finishing materials in furniture and rooms all pollute the air or increase humidity in the home. The result of these factors is not only a decrease in comfort, but also a threat to the health and sometimes the lives of family members.
It is enough to recall mold and fungi, which can cause allergies, or harmful carbon monoxide (carbon monoxide), which can be fatal in a clogged room.
Due to these factors and their negative consequences, it is very important to choose the right plastic windows and the way they are installed for proper ventilation of the premises.
Microventilation in plastic windows
Microventilation is a mode in which a window is switched to facilitate the flow of fresh air, but does not create strong drafts. However, why is this necessary?
It's all about the design of the metal-plastic window, the entire structure of which is aimed at maximum heat conservation. This means that both in winter and summer, if the system is left unattended, the situation will be the same - complete tightness of the housing.
- In terms of energy saving, especially in the cold season, this is a significant plus, but over time the following nuances may appear:
- Fogging of PVC windows.
- Condensation on the surface of the window sill and window slopes. Dampness will result in the formation of mold and mildew.
- In the kitchen, as one of the wettest rooms, this will lead to a similar effect, only with walls and ceilings.
- Stale and stagnant air will make living in an apartment or house uncomfortable.
It is through micro-ventilation that the elimination of these unfavorable factors becomes possible. Even a slight influx of fresh air and removal of “waste” air will provide the climate necessary for the body.
Air exchange can be ensured without interfering with the design of the metal-plastic window or special fittings.
- Seasonal adjustment
This is not exactly the micro-ventilation of plastic windows that is needed, but in this way you can still ensure a minimum flow of air from the street.
Metal-plastic systems are seasonally adjustable. That is, depending on the time of year (winter/summer), you can change the degree of pressure on the sash. Moreover, this is done by turning 1-2 pins to the desired position. How to do it?
At the end of the open sash there is an eccentric marked with a dot or marks. After installation, it is directed upwards, this is a neutral position for the off-season (spring/autumn).
To move the sash, you need to arm yourself with a hexagon (usually 6mm), and turn the mark outside (summer mode), or indoors for the winter. What does this give? In summer, the sash is pressed loosely, forming a small gap through which a minimal amount of air will flow.
- Slot ventilation
This is a micro-ventilation mode setting without additional fittings. All metal-plastic bags have the following functions: open/close, and ventilation (sloped flap). But, there is another option - minimal ventilation without the formation of a draft.
To do this, you need to set the sash mode control handle at an angle of 45 degrees relative to the horizontal when turning to unlock. Thus, a small gap of up to 3 mm is formed between the sash and the frame, through which fresh air will leak.
However, in order for micro-ventilation to function normally in the first and second options, it is necessary to ensure high-quality exhaust of old stagnant air. Why is it worth cleaning the exhaust ducts, or installing forced ventilation with fans.
Accessories for micro ventilation
- This is the best way to ensure high-quality ventilation of premises in housing. This can be achieved by installing the following additional elements:
- Combs.
- Supply ventilation valve.
The comb is a device that is mounted indoors, in the form of a gear rack. When switching the window to micro-ventilation mode, you can install a sash with a gap of different width.
The rail itself is attached to the frame of the glass unit, and the hook is most often near the rotary handle. Such a simple device can be installed on any tilt-and-turn plastic window. The only drawback of the system is the fragility and fragility of the material.
However, the most perfect way of microventilation is to install a supply valve, which will ensure constant air exchange.
Criteria for choosing window ventilation valves
The microclimate in the house depends on the choice of the type of ventilation valve, so this issue should be approached taking into account the maximum number of criteria. The following are of greatest importance:
- transmittance of the product. Existing standards recommend the volume of fresh air from outside at 30 cubic meters per hour per person;
- level of sound insulation of the structure after installing the valve. This indicator should not exceed 30-35 dB;
- efficient operation in winter conditions at low outside temperatures. The valve must be made in compliance with the requirements for insulating internal structures, preventing possible icing, as well as the entry of too much cold air into the room;
- regulation mechanism. Automatic, manual and mixed (a combination of the previous two) methods have been developed to regulate the amount of air coming from outside;
- installation location of the product. In addition to mounting directly on the window structure, there are options for wall mounting. They are more expensive and require significant associated work, for example, punching and laying channels to the valve;
- valve installation method. Its installation without removing the window unit is much more convenient and cheaper than alternative options.

Most popular designs
Installation of ventilation valves on plastic windows has been used for a relatively long time. During this time, a fairly large number of reviews have accumulated, some of which have a negative connotation. It should be noted that this is not mainly due to the fact that the very idea of supplementing the design of a plastic window with an additional ventilation mechanism is ineffective.
Much more often, negative feedback from users who installed ventilation valves is explained by poor quality implementation of the plan. This can be either the use of low-quality products or installation errors.
Rice. 7. Installed ventilation valve.
Aereco window ventilation valves
Based on the above, it is quite logical and advisable to use tested and proven in practice fresh air ventilation systems installed on plastic windows. The products of the French company Aereco are rightfully considered one of the most popular and widely known brands.
In its products, the company uses modern development in the form of polyamide plates, which expand when the temperature rises. This activates the automatic ventilation valve. Sensors also monitor the lower temperature threshold of the room, reducing heat loss if necessary. Another important advantage of Aereco products is their relatively low cost.

Air-Box window ventilation system
Along with imported products from leading manufacturers of ventilation equipment, products from Russian companies are also present on the domestic market. The most famous and popular brand is the Mabitec Air-Box system for plastic windows. It is a structure of two components - external and internal.
For the Air-Box valve to operate effectively, the building in which it is installed must be equipped with a ventilation system. This is because the Air-Box product operates when pressure fluctuations occur.

How to choose a ventilation valve
The optimal ventilation device option should be selected individually for each room, based on its characteristics and operating requirements. Important parameters when choosing:
- Installation requirements: the choice depends on whether the valve needs to be installed in existing plastic windows, or whether a new double-glazed window with ventilation will be installed.
- The desired control option is manual, mixed or fully automatic.
- Climatic conditions. It is important to understand at what temperature conditions the valve will have to operate, so that it does not violate the requirements for thermal insulation, does not become overgrown with ice, and effectively performs its functions.
- Intensity of air exchange - the design must provide sufficient air flow from the street. The standard is approximately 30 cubic meters per hour per person.
- Degree of sound insulation.
How to clean plastic windows
Today there is a large selection of ventilation valves, allowing you to purchase the best option for each case.
For example, a line for windows called Air-Box from the Russian manufacturer - Mabitek.
The assortment is represented by three main classes:
- Standard is the simplest option. It includes two main elements - an external air intake located at the bottom and an upper conductor into the room. The valve petals open when the exhaust ventilation is running due to the rarefaction of the air. This ventilation provides an air flow of about 6 cubic meters per hour.
- Comfort - mounted in a rubber seal or in a window profile of your choice (with or without milling the window profile). The AirBox Comfort ventilation valve has good noise insulation properties.
- Comfort S is a special development for non-opening window profiles. During installation, through drilling is required for straight-through operation.
Ventilation in this line is characterized by an optimal combination of efficiency, low cost, compact dimensions and ease of installation. All this allows it to lead the market for similar products.
Effective operation of flow-type valves is possible only if exhaust ventilation is fully functioning.
Another popular ventilation group was developed by the French company Aereco . Installation is possible either on the wall of the room or in the slot of the window block.
Air exchange in devices from this manufacturer is controlled automatically using a special sensor. The size of the ventilation hole depends on the humidity in the room - the higher it is, the wider the valve opens.
The category is represented by several models, differing in noise insulation and throughput, for example:
- EMM is a popular model, available in three colors - white, oak and teak. The air exchange of the valve is from 5 to 35 cubic meters per hour, regulation is carried out by a humidity sensor.
- ENA2 - characterized by increased throughput - from 5 to 50 cubic meters per hour and increased sound insulation - 42 dB.
10 ways to insulate wooden windows
French vent valves belong to a higher price category, but do not require manual adjustment.
Installation of a valve for a plastic window
As noted above, there are two ways to install ventilation valves for a plastic window:
- with dismantling and subsequent replacement of the double-glazed window with a new one with smaller dimensions. A ventilation valve is installed in the gap that appears between the opening and the window frame. This installation method has several disadvantages: o reducing the area of the window that allows light to enter the room; o additional costs of money and time required to order and manufacture a new double-glazed window;
- without dismantling window structures. In this case, the ventilation valve is installed in the window frame. The process itself takes an extremely short time - sometimes less than half an hour. This is very convenient, especially in cases where plastic windows were installed recently and do not require repair or replacement. In addition, installing the valve using the second method is ultimately much cheaper.
Rice. 10. Valve installation.
When choosing a ventilation valve model and method of installation, the vast majority of customers prefer to buy an option that does not require replacing window structures with new ones. This is understandable, since such installation will cost less and will be completed much faster.
Rice. 11. Possible installation option.

Valve adjustment methods for PVC windows
Practical experience in using various models and types of ventilation valves has shown that for their effective operation it is necessary to have a control mechanism. Options with constant ventilation parameters turned out to be unsuccessful and simply unsuitable for use in domestic conditions.
As noted above, there are three types of regulation: manual, automatic and combined. The most convenient is considered to be an automatic device that uses the readings of a special sensor that monitors the level of humidity in the room. Depending on this, the required operating mode of the ventilation valve is set - from completely closing it to the maximum possible level of air exchange.
Rice. 12. Automatically adjustable valve.
The advantage of an automatic control system is that it reduces heat loss. This effect is achieved by the fact that the valve starts to work only if the humidity rises and there are people in the room. If there is no one in the room for a long time, then the valve operates at a minimum throughput mode or is completely closed.
The manual method of regulating the operation of the ventilation valve is more reliable, but requires constant attention and monitoring.
Advantages of supply valves
In addition to the main function - indoor air ventilation, supply valves have a number of additional advantages. Natural ventilation prevents excess moisture from accumulating and also reduces the likelihood of mold and mildew. It is especially important to monitor ventilation in the bathroom, kitchen and balcony, since these are areas where there is a high risk of the formation of black mold, a fungus that causes aspergillosis.
On hot summer days, with the window closed, the air in the room becomes hot in a matter of minutes. To close or not to close the window when leaving home becomes a real dilemma. However, an unclosed window may result in illegal entry. Therefore, the ventilation valve is insurance for your life and property.
Advantages and disadvantages of ventilation valves for PVC windows
The disadvantages of using ventilation valves are usually associated either with the use of low-quality products or with installation errors:
- the likelihood of freezing at the valve installation site;
- the possibility of too much cold air entering;
- insufficient level of ventilation provided in hot weather;
- reduction in the level of heat and sound insulation of a window structure associated with the installation of a ventilation valve.
All of the above disadvantages can be eliminated if you comply with the requirements for installing the ventilation valve and use a quality product, for example, the Aereco and Air-Box models described above. In this case, the use of valves for supply ventilation will allow:
- ensure a constant sufficient supply of fresh air from outside;
- maintain the heat and sound insulation of the window structure at the required level;
- prevent the formation of drafts that are dangerous to the health of people in the room;
- reduce heat loss, which is achieved by regulating the level of incoming air.
If the installation rules are followed and high-quality ventilation valves are used, their use will allow you to maintain an optimal microclimate in the room with minimal heat loss.

Supply valve for PVC windows
The benefits of using plastic windows have been appreciated by many residents of apartments and private houses. Comfortable, beautiful and practical windows can reduce heat loss and increase noise insulation of the room. However, along with the advantages, consumers also noted one significant disadvantage - lack of ventilation.
This factor worsens the microclimate of the room - humidity rises, the air becomes stale, and people in the house begin to experience a lack of oxygen. As a result, mold appears on the walls and slopes of the room, and the concentration of toxic substances increases.
For normal existence it is necessary to restore sufficient air circulation. Ventilating an apartment by opening window vents nullifies all the advantages of sealed “plastic” and significantly reduces heating efficiency. Inlet valves can solve the problem.
A supply valve is a device installed on the top sash of a window in a horizontal position, which performs an exhaust function. The valve maintains an optimal microclimate in the room and eliminates condensation on the glass unit and frame.
- The advisability of using a supply valve on plastic windows is due to a number of advantages:
- the light opening of the window remains unchanged;
- there are no drafts in the apartment, as with normal ventilation;
- the flow of fresh air is at a sufficient level;
- there is no heat loss during valve operation, and the sound insulation of the room remains at the same level;
- ability to regulate valve operation;
- ease of installation and operation.
- Flaws:
- In winter, some valve models freeze over.
- If you have a manual valve, you will have to frequently adjust it depending on weather conditions, the number of people in the room and other climatic indicators. Since the valve is located at the top of the window, you may need to stand on a chair or stepladder to adjust the operation of the device - this all depends on the height of the windows themselves.
- The device, as a rule, is not equipped with filters, so particles of street dust and other pollutants may enter the air.
How does the inlet valve work?
- The window ventilation valve consists of the following components:
- The outer part is the “air intake”, installed on the outside of the frame. A prerequisite is the presence of a canopy over the air intake, which prevents rain, snow, etc. from entering the valve.
- Telescopic channel - passes through the frame. The element is milled into the plastic window frame and fixed with a sleeve.
- An internal part installed from inside the room. The most complex unit, which is equipped with an exhaust nozzle, a simple filter and a mechanism for adjusting the throughput.
It is possible to properly equip window supply ventilation only by understanding the mechanism of its operation. This is especially important, since to install the valve of the most common design, it will be necessary to cut a hole in the window 1 cm wide and about 30 cm long.
At the end of the work, it is closed by the valve body. It will not be possible to remove the valve so as not to open the ventilation slot on the window profile.
The supply valve for PVC windows is part of passive ventilation. Cold air is sucked into the room and pushes warmer air into the exhaust ventilation ducts.
Movement is ensured by pressure differences, so natural ventilation operates when the outside air temperature is less than +5 degrees. In summer, passive ventilation will only work with forced exhaust.
- Thus, for the operation of the supply valve, the following conditions are necessary:
- The apartment must have proper natural exhaust ventilation. To check its operation, you should close the door to the apartment, open the window in the room as far away as possible from the ventilation duct and attach a piece of paper to the grille.
- If it holds, the hood is fine. Even when the hood does not draw well, the valve will slightly improve the air condition in the apartment, but its efficiency will be low;
- The air temperature outside is less than +5 degrees;
- There should be free air exchange between rooms in the apartment. That is, the doors are open or there are gaps 2 cm wide left under them. Ventilation holes with a total area of 130 square meters can be made in the lower part of the doors. see for bathroom doors and 200 sq. see for kitchen;
- To prevent air leaks from the entrance, the entrance door should be sealed as much as possible.
Many owners are afraid of the ventilation supply valve for PVC windows freezing. Indeed, if the fresh air valve is not adjusted correctly, this phenomenon is possible. This is evidenced by numerous reviews from owners of plastic windows. In severe frosts, the valve should not be closed completely.
Then it will be warmed up with warm air from the room and icing of the plastic window with ventilation is excluded. If the ventilation valve needs to be closed completely, the air supply gap is sealed on the outside. The gap is closed very carefully, ensuring complete impermeability.
But you shouldn’t be afraid of an increase in noise in the apartment after installing a fresh air ventilation valve on a plastic window. The gap for the air supply is very small, so the noise insulation will decrease slightly, which is confirmed by reviews of ventilation supply valves for plastic windows.
Air Box inlet valve
The valve body is attached to the top of the window sash. At the valve installation site, two fragments of the standard window seal are replaced with a special one. Can be installed on already installed windows.
- Air-Box Valve Features:
- Easy and quick installation. During the installation process, no milling of window profiles is performed; there is no street canopy.
- Compact valve body. Once the valve is installed in the window, its body practically does not change the overall design of the window.
- Smooth adjustment of the amount of air entering the room. The regulator handle is located on the supply valve body.
- By moving it from left to right, the valve can be fully opened, closed, or smoothly selected in between
- There is no protection from gusts of wind.
- Lower volume of incoming air compared to Ventair and Aereco valves.
- Can only be installed on swing doors.

Installing a supply valve on a plastic window
- The kit for installing the ventilation device includes:
- valve;
- seal;
- fastener
- Installation does not require professional skills, it is simple and straightforward, and the manufacturer provides detailed step-by-step instructions.
- The first step is to mark the frame profile for laying the special seal that comes with the kit. It, unlike the already installed one, does not press tightly, but allows air to flow into the room.
- The work is performed with the window sash open. It is advisable to place the valve in the middle of the window. By measuring the length of the frame, it is easy to calculate how many centimeters to retreat from each side so that the 35 cm device is in the center.
- Using a utility knife, cut along the markings and remove the window seal. In its place, insert a piece from the kit.
- The markings from the frame must be accurately transferred to the sash. The seal on it is also cut out and removed according to the size of the valve, 35 cm.
- Three small pieces of sealant are inserted into the groove of the sash. They must be placed near the three protruding parts of the valve, which are designed to be fixed with self-tapping screws on the window.
- Remove the protective film of the double-sided tape securing the device to the valve from the valve body. After carefully gluing the ventilation device to the sash, screw the screws into the special holes with a screwdriver.
- Two pieces of sealant, 16 cm each, are laid between the fixed sections.
- The installation is complete, now the plastic window will not be covered with drops of moisture, and the air in the apartment will be fresh. Due to the location of the ventilation hole, street air enters the ceiling and only mixes with warm air and falls down.
Do-it-yourself supply valve for plastic windows
You can install the supply ventilation valve on a plastic window yourself. An experienced home handyman will spend no more than an hour on this.
- You will need the following tools:
- ruler;
- screwdriver or screwdriver;
- sharp knife;
- valve.
A do-it-yourself ventilator for plastic windows is installed on the flap of the window. First you need to make a mark in the middle of the upper part of the sash using a ruler.
The order of work depends on the valve design. So, in some cases, to equip a window with ventilation, you only need to replace the seal section with the one included in the kit.
For other models you will have to make a gap in the profile. When choosing a ventilation valve for aluminum windows, it is preferable to go with the first option, since it is difficult to cut out the inlet slot accurately at home.
Manufacturers usually supply their devices with detailed instructions that allow you to equip the ventilation of a plastic window with your own hands.
The ventilation valve can be installed on the window in two ways: with or without perforation. Let's consider both options.
- Installation sequence of a climate valve with perforation:
- Preparation of tools: electric drill; jigsaw; file; drills 5-10 mm; construction knife; template for marking valve contours; sealant.
- Using a template, outline the location of the supply valve. The marker must be attached to the top sash. For this work, it is better to remove the window sash, since the markings are done on the outside and inside of the part.
- According to the markings, drill several through holes with a 5 mm drill. This row will serve as the base for larger perforations.
- Drill the prepared holes with a 10 mm drill. For convenient location of the valve, holes are drilled from the inside of the window sash.
- Expansion of the supply valve. Between the pair of outer holes, use a jigsaw to cut out the remaining material. As a result of the work done, a through gap should be obtained. Sand the edges of the hole with a file.
- Install the valve mounting strip on the flap surface and secure with self-tapping screws. The part must first be treated with sealant.
- Mill a groove in the frame overlay. Mark the position of the supply valve according to the template, and then cut out the groove using a jigsaw and file.
- Install the outer part of the climate valve with a visor on the outer surface of the frame. The part is fixed with self-tapping screws and sealed with sealant.
- Assemble the sash and install it in place - on the hinges of the frame.
- Check the position of the holes in the sash and frame overlap.
- Secure the inside of the valve to the mounting plate. Use clips and latches as fastening elements.
- Adjust valve operation.
- Let's look at how to install a supply valve on a plastic window without resorting to perforation:
- For installation work, prepare: a regular cross-head screwdriver; stationery knife; marker and ruler.
- Open the window sash and remove part of the seal that seals the gap between the frame and the sash. The old gasket is cut off with a knife from the frame overlap. On the free space, stick a special gasket, which comes complete with the supply valve.
- Direct valve installation:
- install three plugs with the “skirt” down in the grooves from the seal;
- fix the valve on the flap of the sash - the device is attached from above in the direction of the brackets to the window;
- secure the valve with self-tapping screws passed through the brackets;
- Install a seal in the groove between the brackets.
- In this case, the gap between the valve and the seal on the frame acts as a ventilation duct.
Adjustment and operation of the supply window valve
The supply valve can be controlled manually or automatically. Automatic is more convenient and is usually supplemented with a hygroregulation sensor. When humidity decreases, air flow decreases, and vice versa - air circulation increases when humidity in the room increases.
With manual control, you can make mistakes, which sometimes lead to overcooling of the room and freezing of the climate valve.
Important! In severe frosts, the supply valve cannot be completely closed
Maintenance of the ventilation valve is limited to cleaning every 6 months. Dust from the external visor can be removed with a vacuum cleaner, and the body can be wiped with a damp cloth.
Do not use chemicals for cleaning. In addition, you should refrain from cleaning the device under running water. When carrying out repair work in a room, the valve must be closed - this will protect it from dirt and dust.
A supply valve for PVC windows is a practical and necessary purchase that improves the microclimate in the house. You can install the supply valve on plastic windows yourself. The installation method depends on the valve model and its configuration.

Care and maintenance of the valve for PVC windows
One of the important advantages of ventilation valves is the ease of maintenance and care during operation. In most cases, for normal operation of the product, it is enough to clean it periodically, approximately 1-2 times a year. In this case, as a rule, the accumulated dust deposits are removed from the outer grille (using a vacuum cleaner or brush), and the inner surface of the valve is wiped with a damp cloth or soft cloth. Also, a dust spot that sometimes appears on top of the valve is also removed with a napkin.
Under no circumstances should abrasive or chemical detergents or cleaners be used to clean or otherwise maintain valve surfaces. It is also not allowed to wash the ventilation valve with a stream of water or soak its structures and elements.
During operation of the valve, the following point must be taken into account: in severe frosts, it is not recommended to completely close it using the manual type of regulation. This can lead to freezing of some structural elements and failure of the product.
In all other cases, both the care and operation of modern ventilation valves does not present any difficulty or problems.
