Manufacturing of mirror (glass) panels

Mirrors are rarely used for interior decoration. A mirror panel is an artistic composition consisting of several beveled tiles. Tiles can be the same or have different shapes, sizes and colors. A panel on the wall or ceiling will expand the space, help hide an unsuccessful layout, fill the room with light, and visually increase the height of the ceiling.

Mirror panel in the interior

A panel can be an excellent decoration for a living room, making it stylish and modern. It can occupy the entire wall or be a small design element . To decorate the entire wall, mirror panels are used for wall decoration. You can create a small panel yourself from several elements or purchase a ready-made one.

The design of mirrors should fit into the style of the interior, highlight its advantages and hide its shortcomings. For classic styles, aged elements are suitable; for modern interiors, interesting tile shapes can be used. It is important not to overload the room with mirror decor, otherwise the multitude of glare and reflections will cause discomfort.

a lot of mirror elements in the bedroom . Mirrors are usually placed on the wall at the head of the bed so that glare does not irritate and interfere with relaxation. You can purchase a panel for the entire wall or decorate part of it. You can also hang a small, fashionable decoration above the head of your bed.

The sleeping place should not be reflected in mirrors; over time, the reflection will begin to put pressure. You should not place your desk opposite a mirrored wall. This arrangement will constantly distract a person from business.

Installation of mirror panels

The mirror panel can be fixed in a special profile, hiding it under a decorative frame. Mirrors can also be attached with silicone glue or inserted into a decorative layout made of stucco or molding. If necessary, you can drill holes in the glass surface and use fasteners fixed in the wall.

Based on the above, we can conclude that making mirror panels requires the highest qualifications of performers, the process takes a lot of time, so mirror panels cannot be cheap.

Features of element placement

You should not use many mirrors in the interior if the windows face the sunny side; this technique will be appropriate in small rooms with a lack of sunlight. In such a room, you can decorate the entire wall or ceiling, but it is advisable that this wall be opposite the window.

Some features of the placement are as follows:

  1. The mirror panel in the interior does not distort the reflection; all elements are clearly reflected in it.
  2. You should not place mirrors in places that you want to hide from prying eyes.
  3. A wall with a panel does not need to be decorated with other elements.
  4. Any mirror should match the style of the interior.
  5. You should not place mosaics on walls opposite each other. It will be uncomfortable in such a room.
  6. Mirrors should not reflect a large number of objects, otherwise there will be a feeling of constant disorder in the room.
  7. When placing mirror mosaics in the interior, you need to take into account that it is not always pleasant when a person constantly sees his reflection. Over time, he gets tired of it, and the mirrors begin to irritate him.
  8. All bathroom elements must be moisture resistant.
  9. You cannot glue mirror tiles to a wooden base; over time, the parts begin to peel off.

Mirror panels from the Steklokolor design studio

Our studio employs experienced designers who are well aware of all the intricacies of using mirror panels in the interior. Our advantage is the presence of our own production base, including a stained glass workshop, thanks to which we can guarantee consistently high quality products at reasonable prices.

What is the difference between mirror tiles and mirror panels? The fundamental difference lies in the production method.

Mirror tiles

- a simpler method, which consists in cutting and processing mirror fragments with size tolerances of ±1 mm from the reference size.

This method is suitable for decorating walls with mirrors on a budget and covering large areas, since on a large size the difference in the sizes of the fragments is not so noticeable.

But there is a danger that the final size during assembly may not match, the gaps between parts will be uneven, etc.

Mirror panel

According to the technology, it is made as follows: a mirror is cut out of a sheet mirror according to the size of the external dimensions of the panel (taking into account deviations from the right angle). Then this mirror is marked, the parts are numbered, the product is cut and goes on to decorative edge processing (edge or bevel).

When a “chamfer” is removed along the perimeter of a mirror tile, forming a beveled edge (bevel), the mirror, like a diamond, acquires a noble cut and becomes a magnificent, simply dazzling interior decoration.

Only modern equipment will ensure the quality of such a precise and expensive procedure as bevelling. Our equipment allows us to perform both straight and curved processing of mirror edges and apply bevels with a width of 0 to 5 to 40 mm.

DIY installation

You can make jewelry from mirrors with your own hands. It is important to remember that cutting a mirror is difficult. It is better not to choose complex patterns if you have no experience in cutting glass elements. The edge of mirrors is difficult to process; it is not always even and smooth. The order of work is step by step:

  1. It is necessary to determine the location of the decorative panel.
  2. Choose a design.
  3. Before starting work, read the instructions, choose the right glue and purchase the necessary tools.
  4. It is important to carefully prepare the surface. It must be absolutely even, otherwise distortions will be noticeable and reflections will be distorted.
  5. Markings are applied to the wall.
  6. The panels are glued to the wall according to the manufacturer’s diagram.
  7. If required, mirrors are cut to the required size with a glass cutter. This must be done very carefully so that the parts do not crack.
  8. To glue mirrors you need to use high-quality glue.

There are workshops where you can order all the necessary elements.

Everyone chooses mirrors according to their taste so that they fit harmoniously into the interior of the room. But it is necessary to remember that the mirror must be carefully looked after; dust, dirt and stains are always visible on it. Especially if it is located in the kitchen.

Reviews

We started a grand renovation of the house and ordered a mirror panel for the dressing room. I’ll say right away that it was very non-standard, it was made according to the designer’s individual sketch. Even I did not expect such an effect, although everything was agreed upon in advance. A single mirror sheet looks fabulous. When light hits it, it sparkles. The dressing room seemed to be twice as large and brighter.

My husband and I decided to order mirror panels for our hallway wall. Based on the sketches, we chose this option: mirror inserts in an MDF frame. Inserts, unlike solid mirrors, do not require very frequent maintenance, but in the same way increase the space. The light is reflected in the mirrors and gives an airiness to the entire hallway. I liked the fact that mirror inserts in combination with other material look more interesting.

I gave myself a gorgeous gift for my anniversary - a mirror façade for the kitchen.
These mirrors almost doubled the space. They look very impressive and stylish. Now I can see what my household is doing while I cook. The mirror is perfect for watching TV while I do some dinner prep. I understand that such beauty requires careful care, because dirt and splashes on such a surface will be more noticeable, but this does not scare me. But now you go to the kitchen with great pleasure. Marina.

How to make a panel on the wall, following the style of the interior

When an apartment is decorated in strict adherence to a certain style, the decor must certainly correspond to it. To create a stylish wall panel yourself, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the main criteria inherent in a particular direction.

Wall panel in classic style

The classic direction involves a touch of luxury in any element of the interior. At the same time, there is aristocratic restraint. For example, a mirror panel on the wall. Modern technologies make it possible to create many effects on mirrors, including artificial “age-old” abrasions, which will give the canvas a particularly valuable look. The frames of paintings and compositions can be well decorated from figured baguettes with relief designs.

Wall panel in Provence style

The originality, grace, and comfort of ancient French country life can be complemented by a wall panel in the Provence style. Dishes will be a good material. Look at the photo where a luxurious composition was created using painted plates. The colors of landscapes, as if faded in the sun, combined with the lightness of the French character, plant motifs, and rough wood elements are appropriate here.

Wooden wall panel in eco style

Decorating a room in an eco-friendly manner involves using natural materials. Of course, wood takes first place here. A wooden wall panel in eco style can be “woven” from branches, preserving their original appearance, using varnish compounds or painted to match the color of the interior. One of the options shows a vertical panel on the wall in the form of a branched tree, obtained by sawing solid wood.

Art panel on the wall

The modern art deco direction is sophistication, flexibility of lines, alternation of contrasting colors, geometric shapes, multifaceted lighting. An art panel on the wall can be decorated with glass, mirror surfaces, elegant compositions with additional lighting, as well as abstract paintings.

Options for wall panels in modern directions

Modernity dictates its own rules. Popular trends of minimalism and high-tech offer us to almost completely abandon decoration, but in an apartment, we still want to somehow diversify the empty space. Modern wall panels have a laconic appearance, but, nevertheless, are not devoid of originality. Just look at the high-tech chessboard decorating the office or the extraordinary mirror composition of minimalism.

Panel on the wall of a loft interior

The stylish loft stands out sharply from other trends - it is simply impossible not to recognize it. Brick walls and bare concrete interiors require additional decorative details that will give a “lived-in” look. To decorate a panel on a loft wall, large meter-long canvases (often wooden) with various images are often used: social posters, symbols, works of contemporary artists, black and white photographs. The photo shows a successful design of a wall panel made from a wooden pallet.
