A selection of Floor vases: beautiful DIY decor in the photo

Terrarium and aquarium

If you are thinking about fish and reptiles, then we are not talking about them: in a glass vase you can make a beautiful composition of moss and succulents or sea pebbles and algae, but without inhabitants. Terrariums are now the most popular for decorating interiors in eco-style and many others. It’s quite easy to make one yourself: “DIY mini-terrariums.”

Everything for handmade. Compositions in glass vases How to fill a round glass vase

The filler will not only add brightness to a clear glass vase, but will also help hold flower stems or other long elements of the arrangement. Most often, ceramic and glass balls, glass beads, smooth pebbles, pebbles or coarse sand are used as filler. If you do not add water to the vase, you can use dried plants, nuts, beans, dried pods, dry pasta and any other small items.

For flower vases

The filler for vases with flowers should not get wet, be large enough to hold the flowers, but small enough to stick the stems into it. A good option is glass beads. Thanks to their round shape, the stem can be easily inserted all the way to the bottom of the vase, and they are heavy enough to hold the flower upright. Transparent and colored glass give different effects. If the stems are very tall, you can place coins or other flat, heavy stuffing at the bottom of the container to prevent the vase from tipping over.

Decorative filler

Transparent vases can be decorated with almost any type of filler. River pebbles, shells and colored pebbles will add brightness and character to the interior. An interesting filler is made from beach glass; it can be used both in dry vases and in dishes with water.

Edible filler

Food can also be used to decorate the home, especially the kitchen and dining room. Just pour coffee beans or multi-colored curly pasta into a transparent vase or wide, low ceramic bowl. Dry beans come in different shapes, colors and sizes, and also make an interesting filler for a vase in the kitchen.

A vase with multi-colored or single-color candies will also look funny. You can put it on the coffee table in the living room or family room, and take candies from there while watching TV. The same applies to large nuts, both whole and shelled. Walnuts, Brazil nuts and other nuts will become both a decorative and tasty element of the interior.

Plastic

Inexpensive and varied filler is made from plastic. Look for items that are not very flat in shape so that the vase is not packed too tightly. Lego cubes of different colors and small plastic toys look interesting and unusual in a glass vase. Even small dolls and soft toys can be used as vase fillers. During the New Year celebrations, Christmas tree decorations and tinsel would be an ideal option, and for Easter you can put plastic Easter eggs in a vase.

For growing plants

Some plant species grow in a water-filled vase without soil, such as varieties of bamboo. Here you need a filler that allows the roots to penetrate through it, for example, glass beads or balls. Through the transparent glass you can see the roots of a growing plant - a very beautiful and impressive sight.

Glass vases are one of these bright creative ideas. It is worth noting that transparent glass in the interior is not only beautiful, but also an inexpensive design solution.

As practice shows, if you use such glass in the interior, the room will acquire elegance and uniqueness. Glass vases, which you can buy in a store in your city, are an object of minimalism. But if you dream up the form and content, then you can safely experiment with styles.

Advantages of transparent vases in the interior

Transparent glass vases can fit into any interior. This idea is good because such vases are quite environmentally friendly and mobile. The main advantage of vases is that they can be placed on any surface, even uneven ones. In addition, they do not require a lot of space and, thanks to their “transparency,” create a feeling of invisibility. They can be placed alone or in harmony with other vases.

It is also important to note the fact that such vases can be filled with any content. For example, an orchid in a glass vase will look even richer. Fruits, shells, tree branches, candles, as well as other interesting decorative elements will look great in a vase.

Even empty vases can give the entire room a unique style and atmosphere.

Shapes and sizes

Glass vases for decoration can come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Today there are many variations of vases, but the most popular are glass vases with legs, which in their shape resemble huge glasses.

Also in fashion: - glass cylinder vase, both high and low; — a glass ball vase in which seashells and pebbles will look original; - wide and narrow rectangles, which can accommodate one or several flowers; - cone vases with a narrow neck.

Compositions in glass vases

As mentioned above, the filling of transparent vases can be very diverse. Vases can be filled with small and large flowers, large bouquets or single flowers of a wide variety of colors and lengths.

Leaves and stems, as well as fruits, sweets and spices, look good in a transparent vase. Those who come from the seas can fill a vase with sea pebbles or sand, shells and starfish.

In autumn, you can fill the vase with yellow leaves to create a certain atmosphere, as well as twigs of various berry crops. Decorative butterflies, flowers and decorations will be an excellent filling for the vase.

In other words, you can actively use your imagination and creativity, select the filling of the vases according to the interior, then the question of what to fill the glass vase with will no longer arise. There is no doubt that others will certainly notice such original decor.

Decorating a glass vase and its design

Since transparent glass vases are associated with lightness and weightlessness, this must be emphasized when decorating it. Depending on your imagination, the vase should either be placed on the table or hung on the wall. Painting glass vases can be done by an experienced craftsman, but if you yourself love to draw and have a talent for it, then why not show it.

In order for maximum attention to the vase, you need to either fill it with bright “filling”, or make the background on which it stands expressive.

You also need to remember that vases need to be properly decorated and arranged. If the table is large, then a large vase would be appropriate on it, or you can place several large vases on the table.

If this is a dining table, then you need to put several narrow, rectangular vases in a row and fill them with the same contents. As for the bedside table or coffee table, here you can select vases of non-standard, interesting shapes; they will certainly set the background for the whole house.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that you should not place too much decor in one room, so as not to overdo it; you need to observe moderation in everything and stick to one style.

Modern interior style is rich in ideas. Even with a small investment, you can quickly add original accents and decorative solutions. This issue is about one of these very low-cost, but very original ideas. Transparent glass vases, their advantages and 33 ideas for inspiration.

Transparent glass is perhaps the leader among inexpensive, ultra-fashionable materials. Until recently, multi-colored stained glass in the Tiffany style was at the peak of popularity, but today transparency and conciseness are in fashion. This is, of course, the influence of minimalism. However, transparent glass vases fit seamlessly into almost any interior style.

Their advantages:

  • allow light to pass through and therefore do not clutter up the space visually,
  • look beautiful both alone and in company with each other,
  • can be filled with flowers, decorative material or become an independent art object,
  • and, what’s especially nice, they are very inexpensive and are sold in almost any city.

In short, transparent glass vases are an excellent field for experimentation. Check out ideas from Pottery Barn and learn design secrets for using this decor item.

And look how this technique is used by the master of modern interiors

for every taste

Transparent glass vases are very diverse in shape and size. But the most fashionable of them:

  • absolutely even cylinders - high and low,
  • wide rectangles and narrow ones - for one flower,
  • narrow-necked cones and balls,
  • on legs: resembling glasses or aquariums.

what to fill with

In transparent glass vases, both one elegant flower or even a large beautiful leaf of a plant, and a combination of various decorative elements look great (layers of different materials are especially effective):

  • flowers, stems and leaves,
  • small indoor plants,
  • fruits and spices,
  • sea pebbles and shells,
  • wooden shavings and multi-colored sand,
  • acrylic crystals and stones,
  • any natural materials according to the season.

design secrets

Transparent glass vases are a very flexible material for decoration. It is only important to emphasize its advantages: lightness and transparency. This is what we will work with:

Background

(most often the surface of a table or chest of drawers, less often the plane of a wall) is an important element. If you want to draw attention to such a vase in a rather bright interior, the background needs to be made quite dark or bright. If the interior is designed in calm colors and lacks strong contrasts, then the glass vase will be visible.

Balance and composition.

What we are talking about here is that the size of the glass decor should be proportional to the horizontal on which it is placed.

  • on a large table one rather large vase or a composition of several small ones looks beautiful;
  • if it is a rectangular dining table, a row of identical vases with different fillings looks impressive;
  • a coffee table or bedside table will be perfectly decorated with a free composition of vases of different heights and shapes;
  • if such vases are placed on a console table, chest of drawers or shelf, consider the design of the wall that serves as the background;
  • transparent glass vases are an element of a laconic style, so do not load the space closest to them with objects with fine and bright detailing, as well as richly decorated with classical decor;
  • Such vases perfectly support the eco-style, about which we had a mini-series, links at the end of this publication.

MK: flower pots

I made myself a couple of silver pots or flowerpots.

1. We take the most ordinary pots (Maxidom, 10 rubles per piece + saucer 9.40 rubles per piece)

2. Spread with PVA glue, dry it a little, then spread with glue again

3. Next I have two options. The first is to wrap packaging tape (plastic or paper) around the pot in a chaotic manner. Then cover the braid with glue. Don't spare glue. Turn the pot upside down and leave to dry. In this position, excess glue will drain from the pot.

The second option is more painstaking. You need to cut the stockings or tights in a spiral into a strip 3-4 cm wide. As you cut, the strip itself will curl into a flagellum.

Glue the flagellum onto the pot, forming a pattern

Lay out the pattern completely and wait for the glue to dry. And with a brush we apply glue again, saturating the nylon strips

4. Leave the pots until completely dry, bottom up. The one with nylon takes much longer to dry. It can be considered dry when all the nylon strips have hardened.

How to create autumn decorative vases/compositions

Decorative fall arrangements are the easiest to make (so you can even get the kids involved in the process), plus they are fun and interesting, and nothing better than them will highlight the transformation of your home for the current season. Use twigs with or without dry berries, autumn leaves, acorns, chestnuts, pine cones, apples, nuts, dried flowers and herbs to convey all the richness and comfort of the autumn harvest and golden autumn. Lots of ideas for inspiration

Bouquets of cereals

The principle of decorating a vase with leaves

You will need:

- liquid starch (regular, household starch, which is used for washing); - small flat household brushes; - Polish for hair; - a shallow base (bowl), or strong cardboard, or a deep vase - optional; - what, in fact, you will make up your autumn composition from.

You can prepare dried ingredients (flowers, berries, twigs) yourself, or you can buy them in specialized stores.

You can use real apples for the vase (but keep in mind that they will have to be replaced after a week), or you can buy wax ones.

Don't forget to collect plenty of leaves of various shapes from the street (and then dry them), chestnuts, acorns, pine cones, even simple fallen twigs.

Remember that in the composition, depending on its direction, you can always use nuts, heads of garlic, pieces of tree bark, spikelets, dummies of vegetables (or even natural vegetables), dried berries.

Prepare the vase (one of the options):

1. Choose a glass, wooden or any other base vase for the composition. In the case of glass, it will be translucent, and the glued leaves will be better visible. Wide, almost flat vases are optimal, as they provide a much larger field for action, with the ability to use not only flowers and branches, but also other small details, such as pine cones, nuts and apples.

2. Purchase liquid household starch, the required color of special, thin wrapping paper and a brush.

3. Cover the outside of the vase (turn it upside down, this will make it easier to work with) with a generous layer of liquid household starch.

4. Press the desired size of thin wrapping paper onto the starched surface. The wrinkles and creases that appear on the paper will give your vase a special, distinctive look.

5. Apply another layer of liquid starch to the stuck paper.

6. Press dried autumn leaves onto it (if desired, at short distances or with a dense wall). Add starch if necessary to help the leaves stick securely.

7. Cover the layer of leaves with another layer of liquid starch and thin wrapping paper (the contours of the leaves will appear on the paper; if you also find translucent thin wrapping paper, the decor of the vase will look even more sophisticated and voluminous).

8. Finish dressing the vase by applying a final layer of starch to secure everything in place.

9. Let the vase dry in a well-ventilated area (this is necessary not only for quick drying, but also to avoid inhaling the fumes).

10. After making sure the layers are completely dry, spray the resulting layer with hairspray (choose one that doesn't smell too strong), achieving a thin coating. Now everything will stick exactly and shine. Let the vase dry a little more.

Compositions

Compositions can be made from flowers, dried flowers, vegetables, decorative corn, pine cones, acorns, nuts - everything that your imagination is capable of

Let's compose the composition:

1. Decide whether you will make a frame of dried leaves along the contour - they will create something like a frame for the entire composition. If yes, start there. Apply a thick, wide layer of liquid glue along the contour of the wide neck or around the perimeter of the vase (depending on whether you chose a tall or flat vase). Start gluing the leaves - place not only the stems on the glue, but also the small lower part of the leaves so that they stick well. Let the workpiece dry thoroughly.

2. If you chose a flat vase, you will need a base for the composition - something on which you will attach branches, etc. details. This can be a wire base with sections, a soft base like a sponge (can be bought in specialty stores and sometimes in supermarkets), or a small wicker basket turned upside down with fairly large holes in the weave. The main thing is that the base must be carefully secured to the top side of the vase.

Choose the shape and composition of the composition: if it is a classic lush collection of branches and dried flowers, the base is fixed in the center; if the allegory is on the theme of the harvest, autumn prosperity and splendor, with vegetables, nuts and other things, then the base should be chosen smaller and “carried” on the vase a little back and to the left (and the composition itself should be built diagonally from left to right, where the higher elements, and on the right all smaller ones). The base can also be decorative and visible if you decide to make the composition on several levels, for example, decorating the bottom with dried flowers and bringing a small bowl of nuts, apples and chestnuts to the top. Accordingly, if no high elements are expected in the composition, you can do without a base altogether.

3. Start imagining and fixing the elements of the composition. Remember that tall parts, such as branches with dry berries, may overhang the left edge, for example, over acorns and nuts that are located on the right; that branches can be used in an original way by cutting them off and leaving them sticking out as the highest parts in the composition; you can tie small bouquets of dried flowers and leaves with small decorative ribbons and arrange them in compositions with ready-made parts; or fasten acorns/nuts/berries on long branches so that they are located in the bouquet at the same level as the flowers.

The main principle in creating autumn vases is the richness of elements, harmony and splendor. Read how to make dried flowers

Add-ons

:

Dried leaves of ginko, maple, pistachio (come in three colors - green, yellow and red), oak and fern look best in autumn compositions;

If you choose to use fresh flowers, be careful not to get any water on the outside of the vase! If the outer layers do get wet, let them air dry without blotting them with anything;

— For an autumn mood, choose slightly muted colors of thin wrapping paper: yellow, red (as well as its shades - burgundy, wine), orange, brown;

— Instead of the paper option, you can decorate a vase, for example, by cutting out sunflowers or other flowers from fabric, starching them, and attaching them in a creative mess to the outside of the vase; wrapping the vase in a fabric of a suitable color and securing it near the neck with ribbon, woven dry stems or glue;

For autumn compositions, corduroy or suede plain or checkered ribbons of any material and their analogues are optimal.

PUMPKINS

I just love pumpkin. The pumpkin can be placed on a console, shelf, mantel or table. Your interior will immediately be transformed in a special way, taking on an autumn look, but not dull and sad, but bright, joyful and even solemn. Look at this beauty

It’s easy to make a pumpkin vase, cut off the lid, take out the pulp, put a jar of water inside and a bouquet in it

The pumpkin can be painted with gold paint. We will need several tiny pumpkins, no larger than an apple or orange. We lay out the pumpkins on paper and paint them with golden-colored spray paint, and the stunningly beautiful decorative element is ready

Take any maple leaf, attach it to the pumpkin and trace it with a felt-tip pen. Then use a knife to cut shallowly along the contour of the leaf. Scrape off the top layer of pumpkin skin from inside the outline.

Dry flower heads (roses, marigolds, cornflowers, etc.), place them in a glass or clay vase and sprinkle with a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil. Such a fragrant potpourri will not only decorate the interior, but also scent the air. Pieces of dried fruits and spices (cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks) are often added to this composition.

BOUQUETS FROM CEREALS

To make grains dazzling white, dry them in the sun.

Components of a “winter” bouquet: roses, amaranths, immortelle, Echinops, gypsophila, eryngium, yarrow, feather grass, etc. Leaves, stems with seeds, twigs with berries (rowan, rose hips), poppy bolls, reeds, lanterns of physaceae and herbs.

Moss and berries

Decorative corn

We do this: a wire frame wrapped in fabric or paper, and decorative elements attached to it using wire and a glue gun

.

What do you think of this vase?

I have no doubt that if you wish and use your imagination, you can come up with a lot of your own original ideas for decorating the interior with elements made from natural materials.

Seasonal decorations

With the arrival of a new season, there is often a desire to make your home blend in with it. A glass vase will be an excellent container for various seasonal decorations: in the fall it can be leaves and acorns, in the winter pine cones and Christmas balls, in the spring bright pebbles, and in the summer wildflowers.

Memories of pleasant things

A glass vase can serve as a repository for your best vacation memories. If you fly a lot at sea, bring sand from the beaches: you can make real historical layers out of it, and stick stickers on the outside with the location and date of your trip signed. You can make a mixed composition: sand, shells, tickets and other memorable little things. They perfectly preserve memories and photographs, which also look impressive in vases.

Beautiful storage

You don't have to hide the items you need in locked cabinets. Many of them are quite decorative in themselves, especially if placed in a glass vase. Creative materials such as buttons, colored threads, pencils and so on look bright and fun. But cotton pads and sticks in transparent vases in the bathroom will look very nice. Experiment!

Floor vase + MK
On the topic "Recycling". A little imagination + crazy hands, wonderful things come out, like this vase from NATASHA RAINBOW

https://blog.i.ua/user/3037838/

First, my husband sawed the Lenolium pipe into 3 parts. I tied them in two places with twine so that they wouldn’t move apart.

3.

I coated the pipes with PVA glue at each contact and let them dry.

4.

For strength, I poured more glue into each joint. Dried it again.

5.

Then I covered them with wrapping paper.

On top of the paper I pasted over the paper with natural “Bamboo” wallpaper (they were left over after the renovation; we covered the hallway closet with them) with Moment glue.

7.

I covered the top of the pipes with the same wallpaper and cut holes opposite the pipes.

8.

I decorated the holes and edges with linen twine. It was glued with Moment glue (transparent).

9.

I put it in the hallway on a shelf next to the closet and put twisted willow branches in a vase; I made them back in the summer.

For the vase we used: a linoleum pipe (they are available in every building materials store), PVA glue, Moment glue (transparent), packaging paper, natural “Bamboo” wallpaper, linen twine.

Here's how to make such twigs

Gulyafed from the same “country of masters” will tell us

….brought home willow twigs cleared of leaves (vine, broom, willow and many other names)

removed the bark

carefully bent it and set it to boil for 40 minutes (the pan may get damaged, take an old unnecessary pan)

after that I threw the rods into the bathtub in cold water

I twisted it as best I could onto a chair leg, a tube from a vacuum cleaner, onto a rod, and took it off two days later...

and this is what I got...

PS ...I’m sharing my experience. This option is suitable for autumn and winter. There is no need to boil in summer. Strip off the bark and immediately twist. If the branches “don’t want to curl,” throw them in a bath of water overnight, the next day everything will work out. Choose thinner branches and immediately try to twist it at least around your hand. You will understand which branch is suitable and which is not, so as not to carry extra branches home. I hope everything works out for everyone...

Without removing the bark, I twisted the sedge branches.

The master, of course, warned that the vines are not harvested now, they need to be harvested from the end of August - October before the sap begins to flow, but I want to try now. When harvesting, you need the vine to be flexible. And in fact, apparently, it’s not the season. To make it more beautiful, the spirals need to be twisted more often, but I couldn’t really twist them, the branches, although flexible, are very fragile and break. remove the bark, I removed the bark without boiling, but I decided not to break the technology. It didn’t turn out very nicely, but now I know how to do it. The branches can be painted. Try it too...

Candles

Glass containers, especially low and wide ones, act as beautiful candlesticks. There is no need to be afraid that the wax will drip on the table or something will catch fire - glass is reliable and heat-resistant protection. And, of course, it looks beautiful! Especially if you put several stump candles in a vase and additionally decorate around it. More decor ideas using candles: “Hand flame: candles in the interior”

Fairy lights

Not only candles can illuminate a room through the glass walls of vases. Electric garlands placed inside will turn the vase into a night light and simply an interesting decorative object. Fruits and sweets

Food can be beautiful too, so why not show it off? Fruits placed in a glass vase will make the interior more juicy and will make your family want to eat all these vitamins. If you want a permanent arrangement, artificial lemons and pomegranates look just as charming as the real thing, just warn your guests. Sweets can also serve as decoration: it’s not for nothing that one of the types of vases that are often used to create compositions is candy bowls.

The florarium will perfectly complement and enliven any modern interior.

More and more often, creative people are making a florarium with their own hands as an original decoration for the home. Such a mini-garden in a bottle or jar allows you to create a piece of the tropical forest or desert in a city apartment. Purchased florariums are complete works of art and are very expensive, but you can make with your own hands a unique decorative living object that is in no way inferior in beauty to its ready-made counterpart.

In what interior style can decor from dry branches be used?

Original and simple crafts made from twigs can add pleasant variety to any interior.

For work you will need branches, a saw or jigsaw, a ball of twine, and burlap.

  1. The branches must be aligned to length using a saw.
  2. Connect them together using twine. You can tie it through two branches or secure the twine with a knot after each one.
  3. Wrap an old flower pot in a piece of burlap and secure it with glue.
  4. Wrap the pot with the finished twig product and tie it with twine.

An interesting element of home interior decoration is ready. Using this simple technique, similar additions can be made to a pencil holder.

To implement this idea you will need twigs or twigs, a wooden base, and a glue gun.

  1. Using a glue gun, the branches are attached to a wooden base. It is better to think through the design of the frame in advance.
  2. If desired, you can supplement the product with additional decorative elements (moss, wood slices, beads, and so on).

In this way you can decorate a mirror. Or use wood slices for decoration.

A simple step-by-step master class will help you make a decorative wreath to decorate your door.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with Buy fly destroyers and repellers, electric fly traps, prices and photos in the online store

To work you need wire and twigs.

  1. You need to make a circle from the wire, the diameter of which corresponds to the diameter of the future product.
  2. Tie the prepared twigs into identical bundles using wire.
  3. Secure the bunches of branches to the wire ring using wire.
  4. You can complete the wreath by painting it with paint.
  5. The product can be supplemented with cones, bells, ribbons, and beads.

This way you can make an original decorative decoration for Christmas.

  • Classic - between the rich sofas against the background of wallpaper with royal lilies, a huge floor vase with a dry bouquet looks gorgeous.
  • Provence is accompanied by dry bouquets in vases, dried lavender and laurel.
  • Modern style - may include decor from branches in any forms and quantities acceptable to the owners.
  • Eco-style requires maximum naturalism: wicker furniture, a lot of wood, rough fabrics, decor made from natural materials.
  • Minimalism allows for a maximum of one beautiful dry twig on the wall instead of a picture or in a vase as opposed to a whole bouquet, that’s what minimalism is for.
  • The mixed style is itself modern art, and it is sometimes very difficult to imagine in advance what might be there.

The combination of colors will perfectly complement the interior

Living branches will look very beautiful

Tree branches in the interior, like many free materials lying in any forest, have a very valuable advantage: they are free. You breathe a second life into them, increase the price of a piece of wood with time, effort, materials spent: paints and ribbons. When you get tired of this trash, you can always throw it away.

Everything requires change, tastes are revised, children are born, they will have other plans for your living space, beautiful but useless things are covered with a thick layer of dust, it is almost impossible to remove it without damaging the composition. And when the children grow up, you will be with them looking for beautiful twigs in the forest, cutting out dolls from them, hanging them on the wall in beautiful compositions, or making school crafts.

What is a terrarium in a jar and a florarium?

In general, a plant terrarium or florarium is an ordinary aquarium, only instead of water and fish it contains plants. The progenitor of florariums can be called the English scientist Nathaniel Ward, who at the beginning of the 18th century placed tropical plants in a closed space (Ward's box), thereby creating the most favorable conditions for them.

Florariums are a living miracle behind glass

Since then, plants unaccustomed to cold climates have been imported to different countries of the world and grown in specially equipped greenhouses, winter gardens or pavilions. It was not possible for everyone to equip a large greenhouse at home, and therefore mini-gardens with plants became widespread. In florariums, mostly small plants or dwarf plants for the home are grown, otherwise the contents of the glass garden would have to be changed too often. Thus, by properly arranging the microclimate inside it, a closed ecosystem in the bottle is formed and you create an almost eternal terrarium in a bottle with your own hands!

Containers for florariums can be of completely different shapes and sizes

Compositions of succulents in glass: options for florariums (photo)

Before making a florarium with your own hands, it is worth assessing the variety of existing models in order to choose the most suitable solution for the interior. All florariums can be divided into three groups:

  • Aquarium-type florariums, when compositions are created in real aquariums, are considered the most suitable for organizing an independent ecosystem, since they have a lid and lighting.

You can choose a container for florariums of the most bizarre shapes

Advice! You should not choose a container for a florarium based on beauty or size. Both in an aquarium and in glassware, you can create real masterpieces even in the smallest space. Miniature containers with 3-4 plants inside look very impressive.

Florariums can be placed in different ways: they are mounted on walls, placed on a table or windowsill, suspended from the ceiling, etc.

How to process branches for decoration?

After going to the forest, if you decide to use dry branches in the interior, you may need the following tools:

  • small saw;
  • knife, screwdriver and everything for the necessary holes in wood;
  • hammer and nails;
  • glue or better glue gun;
  • wood varnish and a convenient brush;
  • paint: white is most often used, but any will do, depending on the style you want;
  • threads, ropes, ribbons for tying.
  1. First of all, the wood must dry: a couple of weeks indoors, 7 days on a radiator, or a couple of hours in the oven with the door open;
  2. Dried wooden blanks are treated with paint or varnish, depending on the purpose. Treatment is necessary for aesthetic beauty and long service life, and to prevent any nasty bugs from infesting the wood, which will then eat your furniture.

Dry branches can be combined with flowers

Flowers are ideal for vase decoration

  1. Collect beautiful branches from the nearby forest.
  2. Dry them thoroughly in a warm room.
  3. Decide if you need the bark: it usually falls off on its own after drying, but if the bark holds tightly and you want to keep it, leave it.
  4. Go to your local store and browse the entire range of acrylic paints. Perhaps you will change your mind about taking only white color, and take paints of all the colors of the rainbow. It's not bad.
  5. It is better to paint wood in a ventilated room, such as a balcony in an apartment. And it’s important to take your time and let it dry thoroughly.
  6. The number of layers of paint depends on your desire for brightness and intensity of the shade.
  7. To give the branch a shine on top, it should be coated with regular wood varnish.

Voila! The material for decoration is ready, you can move on to the next stage - the direct creative process.

DIY terrarium or how to make a florarium in a jar (step-by-step instructions with photos)

Florariums are easy to make with your own hands according to the following instructions:

  1. First you need to prepare a glass container for the florarium. It is advisable to wash it well and degrease the inside with alcohol or vodka.
  2. Activated carbon should be placed at the bottom of the container so that it is responsible for absorbing harmful organic substances, freshening the soil and preventing the appearance of mold and mildew. Instead of activated carbon, you can use regular drainage for indoor plants, but in large quantities, since there are no holes in the jar or bottle through which moisture would escape.

All the “ingredients” for the future masterpiece

An important stage in creating a florarium is the correct choice of soil.

You can decorate a cactus terrarium with whatever your imagination suggests.

Advice! There are several options for organizing the space inside the florarium. Some phytodesigners advise planting all the flowers in a bottle with your own hands at the same level so that they receive the same amount of light, heat, water, etc. However, in such a small space, all the components necessary for development will one way or another be received by all plants, and therefore it is better to think about the decorative component.

If the florarium will be in the center of the room, it is desirable that the composition be even and have a beautiful view from all sides. If the florarium is leaning against a wall or window, you can make several levels: those plants that are further away are placed a little higher.

Several florariums with different plants look very impressive

DIY paper vase. Kaleidoscope of flowers.

An ordinary glass jar or bottle can be turned into a colorful vase. To do this, you just need to cover the container with small pieces of corrugated paper of different colors.

It is better to use a container made of transparent glass, and for gluing the paper you can use either a special glue for decoupage or regular PVA glue, which must be diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio.

Plants for the garden in a bottle: how to choose the right one?

It is better to choose slow-growing plants to keep in a glass container, otherwise you will have to update the composition very often. Typically, plants themselves slow down their growth, since the root system simply has nowhere to develop in such a small space. In some cases, it is appropriate to slightly trim the roots when replanting to slow down their growth.

When choosing plants for a florarium, you need to consider how they get along with each other. It is advisable to choose options that recreate a certain natural area behind the glass:

  • To create a desert with your own hands, all kinds of succulents (cacti, aloe, spurge, crassula, etc.) are suitable. By the way, a florarium with cacti is practically the easiest and most classic option.

  • Ferns and moss can give the effect of a dense forest.

  • You can create your own tropics using orchids, dieffenbachia, bromeliads, alocasia, etc. (by the way, when using flowers for a florarium, the main thing is not to overdo it: 1-2 flowering plants are enough). It is the florarium with orchids, created with your own hands, that has recently become at the peak of popularity among flower growers. Tradescantia in a bottle is also common.

Advice! If the plants are nevertheless selected for their beauty, and not for the same needs, you can use the following trick: plant them in different pots or containers and cover the surface with stones. It will be possible to care for each of them individually, and from the outside it will seem that the entire composition is in the same soil.

Natural materials

Natural materials are available and practically free. You can collect branches while walking in the park, in the forest, at the dacha, or just on the street. It is better to stock such material in spring or autumn.

  1. It is better to choose clean, straight and even branches and twigs. It’s more convenient to work with them.
  2. Branches damaged by pests, rotten, and showing signs of disease are not suitable for crafts.
  3. The branches of coniferous trees are too resinous. This will make the job more difficult. Resin is difficult to clean from working tools and hands.

Twigs, twigs, branches, and snags brought home require additional processing. First, they need to be carefully examined again for bug damage and disease. Suspicious branches should be disposed of.

Then the branches should be washed and smoothed with sandpaper for leveling.

All blanks for future crafts require drying. It is better to start it right away. Otherwise, the appearance of the finished product may suffer.

  1. Drying naturally occurs at room temperature. It lasts about two weeks.
  2. Twigs and branches can be dried on a radiator. In this case, the material will be ready for use in a week.
  3. You can dry it even faster in the oven. On low heat, with the oven door slightly open, you can get the finished material in a couple of hours.

After drying, it is a good idea to cover the branches with colorless varnish, paint or stain them, depending on the final design.

. They can be placed in a container of water or a floral sponge can be used. Unfortunately, such bouquets are short-lived; if you use artificial materials, then the product (if handled carefully) will retain its impeccable appearance for more than one year.

If you use artificial materials, the composition will be durable
